In short: Fast race for every type of runner In full: A great day out. Don't understand why the 10k is at 2pm in the hottest part of the day, an early start would be my preference. Very friendly marshals and nice atmosphere. It could be improved by having a technical shirt and I don't like water in cups as they are tough to drink from without slowing down. Very good value for money race though and a great day out in the park. Date of review: June 3, 2013
In short: Great race as Usual! In full: second time i have done this and both times has been the hottest day of the year so far! what can i say, the organisation is superb, marshalls lovely, great race for beginners or top athletes alike, in fact us humble folk were able to rub shoulders with a few international runners this year. the mix of childrens races, 5k and 10k throughout the day, and the carnival atmosphere make it a great day out for all the family. with the weather being as nice as it is, you can take a picnic and stay all day! the only slightly disappointing thing was that the t-shirt was not a technical one as last year, but i guess you can't have everything :-) definitely one to keep coming back to. In short: A fast race - very hot!!! In full: My only negative would be the cotton t-shirt. I would rather pay more for a technical running shirt. Such a shame as I have lost count of the number of times I have worn the blue technical shirt from last year and I won't wear this year's shirt to run in.
Another point - with such a big field I think chip timing should be used. Date of review: June 2, 2013
In short: Very hot good race again In full: 3rd year back always hot but I think it was to be expected. Crowded at the start but was ok in the end. Only down point was in last years it was a Technical wicking style shirt. This year cotton. I gave mine back. Also heard someone say they ran out of some sizes too which is not good Date of review: June 2, 2013
In short: Great day, great run In full: A good run especially in the rain. Excellant organisation and support. Shame about too many people wearing ear pieces when not allowed Date of review: June 10, 2011
In short: Fantastic In full: After pretty much weeks of glorious weatehr, and the prospect of running in 30+ degrees 2 days before hand, it absolutely lashed it down on the day. Fortunately it made for almost ideal running conditions, as the wind from the morning had dropped as well. Route has changed slightly from previous years, and this is for the better. Did seem to take a longer to get across the start line for some reason this year though. Marshalls seemed to be friendlier and more encoraging than in previous years, which was good as the crowds were significantly down due to the rain. All the other runners seem to be friendly as well. If you are travelling for this event, bring the family and get them involved in the minithons in the morning, make a day of it. Well worth it. Or even better make a weekend of it, as you can pick up your number the day before. Thanks to Poole Runners - very well sorted once again. Date of review: June 7, 2011
