In short: So glad this distance is run but disappointing entry fee In full: Am so glad this pretty scenic and well-organised race is run. What would we do without a 20-miler to prep for spring marathons? I have to agree with some of the other comments re the price though. What do you get for nearly £30? No closed roads, a tech t-shirt that has most of its space taken up with the name of a local solicitor, water out of plastic cups, NO LOOS on the route and two jelly beans left for the 3 hour plus brigade like me. Shouldn't there be a law that there has to be a loo en route? And some sustenance? Sure there was a white roll sandwich and a Mars bar at the end but what about relative newcomers to this distance or those who've misjudged their time or injured? There must be some thought about offering an energy bar or drink during the race. Most marshals were encouraging but the one who scoffed when I asked about whether there was a portaloo - you have obviously never run that length - the tum can do things you don't expect!! And it's 100 times easier for blokes than females to use the fields/bushes. Date of review: March 28, 2013

In short: Excellent pre-marathon race In full: Really enjoyed this one. It was nice to meet other people in training for the same marathon (Manchester). The organisation was excellent and what a bonus not having to queue for the toilets. IF (and I do meant IF) I ever do any another spring marathon I would definitely use this a prep again, despite the steep entry fee. Date of review: March 21, 2013

In short: Very flat course but a bit off a rip off. In full: This is a great pre marathon warm up race that takes in the many cycle paths of Lancaster and the surrounding area. Avoiding hills for 20 miles in this area is pretty impressive, and it's without doubt one of the flattest courses of any distance I've ever raced. Track start and finish is a bonus as is the post race sandwich. However, at £27 this race is a rip off; it doesn't use any public roads, just cycle paths and pavements that are still open to the public. Also, the water is only in irritating plastic cups that are hard to drink from. Overall this is a solid and fast event that will remain popular due to it's position on the calender, but is too expensive for what it is. Date of review: March 18, 2013

In short: A bit expensive, but very good organisation and great idea to have free sandwiches at the end. Definitely worth doing as part of marathon prep. Date of review: March 18, 2013

In short: Outstanding In full: What a fantastic race. From the seconds it took them to find and hand over the numbers, the chip timings, the numerous stewards, the free sarnies and tech t-shirt to the instant 1st aid when my friend cramped up on the finish line. Great race, thank you Date of review: March 17, 2013
