In short: A challenging but exhilirating run! In full: This race converted me from a road runner to a trail runner. The hills are certainly challenging and not for the faint hearted, but the camaraderie and challenge of running for 'your county' really added to atmosphere. Will definitely do this again, and will certainly be entering the 10 miler in January! Date of review: November 6, 2011

In short: A typical cornish off road race where the hills bite back. In full: Massed start down a sweeping grass slope to the Tamar then flat wooded public footpaths along Millbrook Lake, passing the small harbour at Empacoombe before the long climb over open fields and then woods to Maker Church and into some fog. On a clear day there would have been scenic views across Dartmoor, the naval dockyards and down towards the Lizard from this point. The run then swept through some hilltop grassed fields before dropping down towards sea level and then climbing back up through the Edgecumbe grounds to a final sharp climb to the folly before a downhill stretch through the woods and damp, leafy slippery old military road before a grassed section to the finish. It was a pity that this event coincided with an established race, the 10 mile Eller based in nearby Millbrook, which was unfortunately cancelled. This was billed as a Devon v Cornwall race with a rematch in a 10 mile race around Rame peninsula in January. Date of review: November 5, 2011

In short: I loved it! In full: I had no idea of what to expect other than I have walked my dogs at Mount Edgcumbe many a time. The run started off really well until that 3k never ending hill, but once that was out of the way it was a cracking run. The walk (for me) up to the Folly at 8.5k was energy zapping. I would have liked another water station but overall I really did enjoy it and it was great to have competition between the two counties. Definitely be back next year. In short: That was a lot harder than I was expecting! In full: I was thinking we'd have a nice 10k around the trails and paths of Mount Edgcumbe. As we headed out of the gate, I realised that I was wrong. Climb at 3k got tougher and then the run through the fog was interesting. Toughest bits after that were the steps around 8k and the scramble on hands and knees (literally) around 9k to get up to the old castle, from which some cracking views could be briefly enjoyed. It was only 10k but was the hardest race I've done in a while. If you like cross-country though, you'll love it. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Long overdue to do a trail race here pity let down by organisation with a computer crash with no paper backup so prizes wrong. Date of review: October 30, 2011

In short: hilly race that had something for everyone. In full: a new race for the area, a tough challenge for anyone. a great place to stage a race with amazing scenery (shame about the fog!). The idea of having a Devon vs Cornwall team challenge worked and can be added to for the future. got lost a couple of times, purely down to making sure signs are placed in the right position for the runners. tough tough tough course and has potential for the future.
