In short: Excellent, though tough 10k
In full: The first hill seems to get easier every year; perhaps it's because I'm getting slower. The second hill at 5k seems to get steeper every year perhaps it's because I'm getting older. Great Event, well organised and well sponsored so nice momentoes.

In short: Killer start, but fantastic after that.
In full: This was my first time at this event. The hill that you start on (there is a prize for the first to the top)is a very tough hill and its easy to go off too quick and die half way up. After that the course is lovely. Through the forest along tracks and its undulating the rest of the way. The consolation is that the hill you went up to start with is the hill that you fly down to finish. Marshall were great, no way you could get lost and you had a nice bag and drinks bottle as a momento.
The scenery at Sidmouth is just fantastic and the weather was glorious.
Well done Sidmouth running club

In short: Don't look up at the start!
In full: A VERY hard start - 1.5k of steep ascent, then a little flat, then undulating for the rest before finishing at a flyer down the hill to the finish. A super atmosphere, 4 water stations (generous for a 10k), lovely cake at finish, and fun little golden running shoe trophey. Will definitely be back next year!

In short: Good run if you like 1km hills!
In full: As someone already mentioned after getting over the 1km hill it takes somewhat to recover from it. A few bottle necks on course too. However well marshaled, and covered by woodland, so not in the sun too much. Although not sure I would rush to do the course again, may be when fitter!

In short: Tough Race, but lots of fun
In full: The big hill at the start is the outstanding feature of this race, getting to the top isn't the real challenge it's getting to the top and then being able to recover after it. I couldn’t and basically ran backwards for about 4K. Once recovered the journey home is more pleasurable and seeing the sign that says "the Peak" again is lovely since you get to hurtle down that big hill. It's a punishing race, but one to be enjoyed especially if you bring the family and have Fish and Chips on the beach afterwards. A great day.

In short: hard and unusual start but well worth it .
In full: A hilly and green course, though I was a bit out of puff at the top of the starting "hill" , it's well worth it . Thanks to Richard (solicitor) who ran with me for 5 k and gave me encouragement.

Seemed very well organised, good facilities and extremely friendly marshals with free supplies of jelly babies, I just loved the quick swim in the sea straight after the race, I would be back next year, that's for sure.

In short: Forget the nightmare start, the memento is worth it
In full: Starting on a very big hill which seemingly goes on forever turns in to an undulating middle forest section and a suicidal downhill last few km. All in all good but don't expect a fast time

In short: Unusual start!
In full: An unusual start at the bottom of a 1 in 4 (25%)gradient hill, then after the 1km climb there's a nice flat bit on the open heathland, before disappearing downhill into the woods, and lots of undulating and muddy tracks, before looping back for the final headlong charge down the original hill at breakneck speed to the finish. (I've never finished a 10k race at 14mph before!!).
Most of the runners took advantage of walking over to the sandy beach afterwards for a nice refreshing dip in the sea - wonderful).
Cotton T-shirt was a little disappointing, but the drinks bottle with its no-spill top was very welcome, along with the reasonable contents of the goody bag.
