In short: Cheap & Local
In full: I chose this event because it was cheap - £6.00 – and fairly local. It turned out to be very accessible, just a mile off the M61 motorway, and there was ample car parking, which was well sign-posted. It was an undulating, clearly marked route along a couple of main roads & two minor roads, with a few local people about to cheer us on. It’s a fairly quick course, but not flat enough for serious PB targets. The scenery was split into rural and suburban. At the finish we were rewarded with a t-shirt. Not a special event but pleasant enough.

In short: a fair race with a hill at 4-5 miles to keep you honest
In full: This is my local race and fell out f bed to do it. A friendly crowd, run over country lanes and pavements on main roads. A hill past Lostock station to Chorley New Road, enough to feel it but not long enough to kill you. I have a time now to judge my early season against in future years. I will run again

In short: A challenging but enjoyable run. Very well organised. Can't believe such a good run has been on my door step (7 miles) and yesterday was my first time
In full: An undulating run along country lanes/pavements. Very well organised with marshalls and sign posts at all the required locations.

The only downside was occasionally seeing the Reebok Stadium in the distance (Not funny for a Wigan Athletic Season Ticket holder like me) but it wasnt in view as much as I expected thankfully :-)

Now I've found this race I will be certainly trying to do it every year from now on.

In short: Very good workout. Fast paced and nice rural roads. Great race to start the year
In full: Great workout. Fast paced race and the hill at 4.5 miles is well placed as you know there is only a mile and a half to go and that is flat. Would be better if there were changing facilities but would still recommend this race to anyone
