In short: Crazy! Not for the faint hearted.
In full: The conditions were awful starting with the car park which was a sheet of black ice. The route was icy, snowy, slushy, muddy, slippery and sandy. Oh and there were a few hills too! And with the early start it was no wonder so many stayed in bed.
That said it was a great race the marshalling and organisation was superb. Great atmosphere and camaraderie between the runners too.
Well worth the effort, but don't expect a PB!

In short: worth it for the views
In full: I was lucky enough to sneak an on the day entry because the race was postponed a week due to the snow.
I've do a lot of my running around this route, so I'd always thought that "race pressure" may spoil it for me, hence I'd never entered before.

In fact, I think the race atmosphere helped. The course was very muddy, and snowy in places and there are definitely places where I would have stopped/turned around and declared it too muddy to go on with. But having my number and chip meant I just plodded straight through all the puddles.
There are major hills, but it's very beautiful and if you're not worried about where you put your feet for a few strides then do lift your head up to admire the views across the Surrey Hills.
As we shivered at the start having negotiated the icy car park, most people were wondering why they had bothered to get up for the early start, but at the end everyone I spoke to was glad they did. I think the chocolate brownies had something to do with that...!

In short: A real early morning blast
In full: Having arrived through the darkness and fog it was great to see such stunning scenery. A tough course with steep up and downhills. Well marshalled on the course and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves or maybe they were grateful it was over. A good testing hilly run at closer to 11k than 10k, so more for your money.

In short: Gruelling
In full: Well organised, excellent event, and the brownies and flapjacks at the end are most welcome. Well done to the officials and organisers for all their hard work.

In short: Pain and flapjacks
In full: Superbly organised, as ever. Beautiful early sunshine on a cold winter's morning, and rounded off with flapjacks. Lovely .... and very hilly!

In short: Uplifting, helped by the sparkling weather
In full: Brilliant scenery, great but very challenging course with three major hill climbs. Good variety, sandy trails, woodland paths. open countryside. Wouldn't have been so much fun in the wet and wind, but then what is. Well worth getting up early for the ridiculous early start of 8.30
