In short: Much better use for a cyletrack than cycling!
In full: Any race involving laps can be a bit dull, but it also makes it much easier to get the organisation right, so with 16 drinks stations, the facilities are good. In compensation, the laps mean that you can see how you are doing in comparison with other runners, and you can get the chance to run with those you might not see in a single loop. Also, if you want to wear headphones, you can as there are no cars to worry about!

In short: Excellent event. Make the laps work in your favour. Enjoy the support.
In full: The range of comments indicate the diverse expectations of individuals. This was a superbly organised race. Easy access, facilities at track side, the laps allow supporters to exercise maximum effect, not only to their own runner, but to other individuals who catch their attention for whatever reason! Whilst the hill is significant, I have always found that undulating races produce faster times than those that are totally flat. At 56 years and many races behind me, I achieved the most even paced marathon I have ever run, achieving my sub 3.15 target. This was very much down to the lap element of the race. Runners of all abilities, all on different laps seems chaotic, but adds interest, as you recognise the same people as you lap them (or get lapped!) Disgardig one of 17 wrist bands is a great idea in order to keep track of which lap you are on, chip timing and detailed splits make for interesting analysis. Many runners achieved pb's or as in my case, good for age times. Family support was appreciated hugely, and they really got involved in the race, for once making positive utterances post race having become wrapped up in the pressure of pace, distance, pain, mathematical calculations etc. Great race. I will be back!,

In short: Great organisation and atmosphere, fantastic marshals and support for first to last finisher
In full: This was my first marathon, and I loved it!
I picked laps as I thought if I really really felt I couldn't go the distance then I could drop out easily enough. Well even with the "hill" that got steeper each lap I completed the course. Lovely new tarmac, great support from other runners and of course a PB as it was my first, very pleased to finish in under 5 hours! I booked my place for next year the same day of the race...and even got an individual email with my own split times! FANTASTIC!

In short: Has potential to grow.
In full: Don’t be led into a fool’s paradise, this is a hilly course. For 0.75 miles there's a slope with a ascent of 75ft. It may not sound much but after 10 laps it certainly takes a lot to get up it. The rest of the course isn't particularly flat either but manageable. It was designed for bikes, so there are a few twists and turns which make keeping an even pace slightly tricky. I actually think this course would be more suited for a 5k, 10k or 10miler.

There isn't a huge availability of areas for spectators to stand other than near the start line, making the rest of the course a bit dull. I can’t see any way that they can make it better as the landscape around the track will be shrubs and trees in months to come.

There was a water station which the marshals gave out jelly babies and other energy snacks. I took my own water and isotonic drinks in bottles as what they provided was in plastic cups which makes it near impossible to drink from without wearing it too.

The race was chip timed and well marshalled. The scenery isn't spectacular (housing estate, A227, Petrol station); Toilets in the Cyclo park building were clean with no huge queue and 3 portable toilets on the course. There was changing facilities and showers too.

Overall it was an ok Marathon with potential to grow. If you want a bit of a challenge then this course could be the one for you.
