In short: Enjoyable, challenging run along country roads In full: Enjoyed this and found the mix of hills, heat and wind challenging.
Thanks to all the marshalls for their support and for giving up their time to help.
Only thing I would like to see changed is the turnaround arrangements for lap 2. Turning the first corner left at the start of lap 2 I was nearly taken out by a runner accelerating around the corner towards the 9 mile finish line. Also, I had to ask directions from three people at the start of lap 2 because the sole marshalls there were busy directing those coming in to finish lap 1.
Oh yeah and the medal is a bit rubbish!
Those points aside it was a useful tester and I'm glad I decided to run this one. Would definitely consider doing it again if it fits with marathon plans.
In short: Interesting distances. Fairly quiet rural roads, yet rather uninspiring In full: Good bits - Nice to get a print out of your time at the end. Massage and good refreshments available at race HQ. Short queues at the toilets. Generally well organised.
Not such good bits - Uninspiring route, fairly open with a fen-like feel to it, so not good on a blustery day. Quite a walk from the car park to race HQ. Not much support out on the course. Would rather have a practical momento or goodie bag than the medal. Date of review: March 17, 2014
In short: Course ok. Not much support en route. Local arrangements quite poor-long walk to start, refreshments, parking. In full: The longer 18 miler involved two loops round a cone at half way to allow the nine milers to finish. Thought was rather expensive for the organisational set up and lack of goody bag- just cup of water and banana at end. Date of review: March 18, 2013
In short: A decent little race... In full: A good race 5 weeks before the London Marathon being quite a rolling course so a fair test on the legs. Quite a walk from parking to register and bottled water would have been a big help. Nicely marshalled though and brilliant to have your results as soon as you pull up... Date of review: March 23, 2012
