In short: Good race that will get better.
In full: First time event so excellent considering it was the first half marathon in Loughborough for years. It was criminal such an important sporting town did not have a major run so well done to the organizers for getting this on the map. This race has real potential, it starts in the town centre goes through the famous university and then some gorgeous countryside before returning to the town. This race will get better and better so enter next year.

In short: Only 12.82 miles, Not a Half!
In full: First time this race has run and short of 25 marshals on the day. However, it was still a fun event and I did PB which is always nice. Good support at the end, weak goody bag and medal for the fee; yet, it is a charity race. Lots of good challenging sections and enjoyed the off road. Overall, I am sure next year lessons will have been learnt and this will prove a good staple in any runner’s diet.

In short: Tough in places and quite twisty at times
In full: Good introduction to race running as field not too large. Some steep hills in places but manageable. Some of the grass and gravel sections could have been better signposted. Definitely need your own drinks as only cups of water supplied. Plenty of well wishers outside of houses and along course in places. All in all good first half marathon but would have preferred it without the off road sections and a few less twists and turns.

In short: 13 miles 57 yards
In full: On the whole a well organised race. However the fact that it was short is inexcusable. It would be very easy to make it the correct distance.
Not the fastest of courses with a lot of twists and turns, some very steep (short) hills and some off road sections which could have been nasty had it rained. I was fairly near the front (1.34) and with all the twists and turns near the end could often not see the person infront, in some places the marshalling was either lacking so I had to guess or the marshalls didnt direct me until I shouted 'which way?'
Overall I think it was a good race which could be made better with a few signs up and the start/finish altered to make it the correct distance

In short: good debut, needs a little work and i hope it returns next year
In full: some pretty sharp hills and turns on the course but they ve done the best they can with the location. enjoyed the town finish. could do with more signs up and a finishing funnel.
