In short: Lovely race on a beautiful day
In full: Great to have the warm up this year and I agree with previous comment that a circuit of the footb all ground at the start of the race would avoid the frustrating bottleneck.
Very well marshalled and always a lovely race, one of my favourites.
Minor gripe - I was desperate for the water at the half way point so ran past the jelly babies thinking there would be some after the water table and there wasn't!

In short: Lovely route, challenging uphill finish and well marshalled
In full: Walking to the start I was promised a short course - which is fine, it's billed as 'approximately 10k' - but it wasn't, if anything my garmin had it a smidge long. And that was just one challenge, what with the headwind (on the way out, and when coming back, it seemed), a few patches of mud and some undulations, including one right at the end.
But none of that is a bad thing, this is a lovely race. A great mix of trail and road, well marshalled and a good, honest, challenging course. The entry fee is extremely reasonable, especially given that finishers receive a tote bag, shot glass, medal, water and fruit. Well done everyone concerned, and nice to see a sunny day to reward the marshals for their efforts in cycling round the course and pointing us all the right way.

In short: Well organised and friendly atmosphere
In full: Overall I thoroughly enjoyed as did other people with me who ran the race. Well organised and value for money with a surprisingly nice goodie bag. The medal with the diamond jubilee theme was a nice touch. Thanks to the marshalls and organisers.

In short: A very friendly and well organised race.
In full: A nice low-key warm-up for those of us doing the VLM on the 'next' week-end. I always enjoy this race.

In short: Killer hill to the finish line can kill your PB!
In full: Nice country route, lovely friendly marshals, nice bananas and running bottles in goody bag. Well organised from school lots of warm up opportunities, good bag drop. Thanks to all the rotary helpers - much appreciated smiles.

MINOR gripe 1 - Big bottleneck at start through small gate - bye bye PB - unless you're at the front. This was silly and annoying. You start running then you have to stop. Why not do a lap of the football pitch to thin the crowd out a bit first?

MINOR gripe 2 - The route should come with a health warning! It's very gently undulating for 6.1 nice country miles then there's a really steep 200m hill up to the finish line! It's an absolute killer because if you're anywhere near your PB you're going to try and hammer it up the hill so you don't lose your time. Plus if you've not left much in the tank you're gonna really feel the hill. I do think they should give people a little reminder at some point, Tired + Unexpected Hill = Injury Potential.

MAJOR gripe now - Why oh why did you make us stop running so abruptly at the end? There was the finish line, yey, then a single file funnel for stopwatch recording. It meant we all had to stop sprinting over the finish to a dead stop. NOT good for us, not good for muscles, had huge muscle recovery issues because of the abrupt stop. Especially after that hill. Let us jog down for a minute at least - there was space back there. I know you don't have timing chips, but no matter - most folks know their time anyway, there's no rush to clock it down on paper, I'd rather slow down properly please. Timing chips would resolve this issue, I'd pay an extra couple of quid.

Overall I would do it again but it is my local.

In short: Better than expected route. good atmosphere. Terrible hill going to finish line at last half km!
In full: Really lovely run, busy at the start. Slightly "laid back" start, no chip timing kept it low key and relaxed. Lots of nice touches such as jelly babies and nice goodies at the end if you wanted another water bottle, shot glass or bag for life!

In short: As-ever, a well-organised race on a good course
In full: Expertly marshalled, as always. Good route although with a killer hill at the end. Good atmosphere at the end. There's always one or two special guests too. Great prizes and souvenirs.

In short: Great first 10k of the season
In full: First time I have ran this event, thoroughly enjoyed myself. The start is a little slow due to narrow path but once you get going its fine. The are some tasty hills to climb but don't be put off. Very well marshalled, km markers at every km, drinks station at 5k. Will run it again next year, give it a go.
