In short: Enjoyable coastal half In full: Can't fault this one. Well organised, enthusiastic marshals (thanks for the encouragement up the hills!), nice course, lovely medal and tech shirt at the end. Thought I'd hate the fact it was 2 laps but surprisingly enjoyed the challenge of repeating the hills and nailed a PB so all good :-) Date of review: March 9, 2014
In full: my second time for this super race, challenging but great fun, ideal for a long weekend by the sea, weather cool again this year, great for running, always a danger of that rarity-a hot british summers day when the race could become a real slog Date of review: June 30, 2013
In short: Brilliant, well organised half In full: My local half marathon. Great organisation and goody bag. Always more challenging than you would think. How well you do tends to depend on how humid and/or windy it is. But will always look forward to doing this race again, and again. Course PB for me this year so happy bunny :-) Date of review: June 28, 2013
In short: Challenging Half Marathon In full: Being on holiday in the area at the time, I searched for a race online and found this half marathon to enter and I was not to be disappointed! Well organised with a nice atmosphere. A two lap course from Paignton seafront to Torquay and back again. The course follows the coastal road which has some challenging climbs in places and of course you have to do them twice. Glad I just managed to duck the 2 hour mark, which is always my target for a half. An excellent medal and technical tshirt to all finishers - very impressive. Also a nice goody bag. Well done to all those involved in making the event happen as well as the very good support from the public, especially those handing out jelly babies on the hill climbs!! In short: I loved this race In full: Great race, extremely well-organised, with excellent crowd support which really helps over a longer distance. Thanks to everyone who turned out to volunteer, provide music and/or to cheer the runners on. You all made it a truly memorable race and one which I want to take part in again. In the meantime, the medal and t-shirt are really attractive mementoes of the day. And finally, I found the training plans on the web site very helpful. Date of review: June 25, 2013
In short: Great race with excellent organisation In full: Fourth time of running this which doesn't seem to get any easier! Thought the crowd support this year was amazing, organisation excellent & compared to other halfs very good value for money. A very nice tech t-shirt, medal & recovery drink included in the goody bag.I will be back next year for sure.
In short: Slightly challenging two lap course In full: This is a two lap course, taking runners from Paignton green along the seafront to Torquay and return (twice). The steady incline out of Paignton, whilst not steep, does provide for a bit of a challenge and allows the fitter runner to do well. The crowd support was brilliant, with loads of supporters lining the route. The roads were closed, so this allowed for a nice traffic free course to enable the front runners to take the racing line. The race organisation was superb and everything went smoothly and without any noticable hitch. Due to the date of this event, the heat would always play a part; but there are regular drink stations to allow for this. Date of review: November 9, 2012
In short: Interesting course. The hills mean it is never going to be supefast but mostly the course flows well. In full: An enjoyable race with a good start and finish on the promenade at Paignton. An interesting scenic course. Even though it is two laps (so you know what is coming) the hills are fairly tough especially from Torquay to Paignton so never going to be that fast.
