In short: Slightly challenging two lap course
In full: This is a two lap course, taking runners from Paignton green along the seafront to Torquay and return (twice). The steady incline out of Paignton, whilst not steep, does provide for a bit of a challenge and allows the fitter runner to do well.
The crowd support was brilliant, with loads of supporters lining the route. The roads were closed, so this allowed for a nice traffic free course to enable the front runners to take the racing line.
The race organisation was superb and everything went smoothly and without any noticable hitch.
Due to the date of this event, the heat would always play a part; but there are regular drink stations to allow for this.

In short: Interesting course. The hills mean it is never going to be supefast but mostly the course flows well.
In full: An enjoyable race with a good start and finish on the promenade at Paignton. An interesting scenic course. Even though it is two laps (so you know what is coming) the hills are fairly tough especially from Torquay to Paignton so never going to be that fast.

In short: An enjoyable run with some lovely scenery
In full: First time for me. I was a relatively late entry and so was recipient of a faulty chip - but apart from that it was a great day. The course is challenging, but not too bad as by the time you hit the 2nd lap you know what's coming and can conserve energy for the late hills! Atmosphere a little flat from spectators but the marshalling was excellent, the rock and rol band were fun and I really enjoyed the run. The dip in the sea afterwards was colder than expected!!

In short: Highly recomended race with beautiful scenery and awesome goody bag!!
In full: This was my second year of running the torbay half and was just as challenging with running up three hills to torquay and three back on first lap and same again on lap two so you definately feel like you've had a work out and earnt the best goody bag iv had with a nice blue tech tshirt and re-designed medal from last year.both were great last year and have been improved further with the medal a nice palm tree in reference to the glorious english riviera which all 2,000 of us runners got to see the scenic sea and surrounding coasts.weather was cool but fortunately no rain as predicted and the sun stayed in so nobody melted!i didnt want to run the same run twice but was persuaded into doing this run and wasnt dissapointed with anything.great communication with race director and the facebook account of torbay athletic club.will be back!

In short: Memorable for all the right reasons
In full: This was my 2nd Torbay Half having done it last year and my girlfriends 1st time here. Excellent value for money with a really nice re-designed medal and a tech shirt included in the entry fee. A great mix of hills and views, lovely to be beside the seaside. Found a great guest house to stay at less than 500 metres from the start line last year and stayed there again this year. Hats off to Torbay Athletic Club, a great event they have clearly worked really hard to make a success. My girlfriend also thoroughly enjoyed it, only her 3rd half marathon but races like this just leave her eagerly awaiting her next. If you've not done this one yet do it next year, you'll really love it. Nice friendly race director too to whom nothing seemed too much trouble. There have been some comments about timing chips, but this could happen anywhere and was just one of those things you can't allow for. Thanks Torbay for a great race and a great weekend.

In short: excellent
In full: An excellent event with slopes which could well tax the novice runner.
However the overall atmosphere will pull you through.

In short: Fantastic half marathon - Atmosphere welcoming and friendly, all at an awesome price.
In full: This is a truly great race which has beautiful scenery and enjoyable two lap route that allowed me to pinpoint my pacing and come home with a new PB.

The weather which descended on Torbay the night before was enough to put the toughest of runners and supporters off. Lucky come morning the rain had stopped and the support from the crowds around Paignton Green was great while live music on the headland in Torquay helped improve the atmosphere.

The course was traffic free and exceptionally marshalled. Lots of water stations which i would have used more if it was hotter.

On finishing the race i got one best goody bags i have seen in long time. Great technical T-Shirt and decent medal and much more, great considering the race only cost £22. Other races could learn a thing or two here, as i have done other race which cost a lot more and you don't get a decent goody bag like Torbay.

Will definitely be coming back next year!!!!!

In short: A good race let down by timing chip issues
In full: The course is virtually traffic free which makes the whole race that bit more enjoyable. The contra flow along the seafront at Torquay near the pavilion gives you a good opportunity to see who is ahead of you and behind you. Other runners were uplifting and so were all the volunteers on the water stations and marshals (thank you!) Amazing water stations clearly expecting a heat wave!
Spectators (except a few pockets) were flat as a pancake and I have never seen such an unenthusiastic bunch of supporters!
What spoilt this race was the UNRELIABLE CHIP TIMING SYSTEM from SPORT SYSTEMS. I was one of the unlucky runners to have a race number between 1511-1607 were the chip system failed due to 'a faulty batch of bibs' I am not convinced I will ever get a proper chip time! Thanks a bunch Sport Systems!
The third race this year spoilt by so called profesionals paid for by my entry fee who can't do their job properly (end of rant!)
