In short: Testing times In full: I agree with JHN that the route is beautiful - the description "calendar material" understates it - and well-marshalled by Chiltern Harriers. The varied ground added to the enjoyment, but I found two of the hills a climb too far for someone who was running at the back. Date of review: September 27, 2013
In short: Beautiful but hilly!! In full: This was my third year doing this event and as ever it was fantastically organised, with a really friendly feel. The scenery, being the Chilterns (pre-Hs2...), is of course stunning. It is also really hilly, but that's part of the charm. Great event again, see you next year for 4-in-a-row! In short: Fun and hilly – my first 10k! In full: As the title says, this was my first 10k. I knew the course would be hilly and challenging and indeed it was. The excitement of the race sped up my pace quite a lot and I had to concentrate on the fast, downhill, narrow & muddy bits (that's all at once by the way). Gorgeous scenery and a fun atmosphere, even in the rain. Date of review: September 25, 2012
In short: A brilliant race In full: This is one of my favourites. A great course, mainly off road with lots of variation of surface, incline and view. Very well organised indeed - starts on time, plenty of marshalls and all very friendly. And it all starts and finishes in the very picturesque Shardeloes cricket club.
All the races that Chiltern Harriers put on are excellent but this is the best in my view. Date of review: September 24, 2012
