In short: Excellent flat course with bags of PB potential In full: After a chilly 9.00am start the race warmed up enough for me to be glad to be wearing a vest. The support was great in the first couple of miles and generally throughout. I think the organisers need to put up all the mile checkpoints as some times I only had my Garmin telling me when another mile had gone by. I enjoyed the race, finishers t shirt & medal. Will be back fo more next year! Date of review: May 8, 2013

In short: PB tastic In full: After last year's debacle, Manchester owed me - and it delivered. Well organised, well supported and a speedy course. I think I'll be back to try and chip a bit more off my time next year! Date of review: May 7, 2013

In short: Bigger and better than 2012 In full: Well organised event which had the feel of a major city event. Organisers have learnt lessons from last year and it was obvious. Date of review: May 3, 2013

In short: Well run race Massive improvement on 2012 In full: Very well organised, great start venue, well organised race village. A massive improvement on 2012 where there was a lack of marshalls, badly organised baggage and having to run under a road under pass at about 24 miles! Moving the start to Manchester United's ground was a great improvement on last years venue. Great support from the crowds, fast flat course. Only minor things would change would be more porta loos at the start and giving out energy gels as opposed to the blocks of what looked like jelly and were difficult to eat, (although i guess that depends on the sponsors?). In short: Massive PB potential - I knocked off 4 minutes to run sub 3 hours In full: By the sounds of it the 2013 version was a massive improvement on the previous year. Good but not amazing start area in front of Old Trafford Stadium - though the changing area could have been a little bit larger - as I suspect there would have been lots of people looking for shelter had it been raining. Baggage drop was very good. As for race? Scenery was so-so but the crowds were fab and the out-going nature of Manchester people helped as lots of shouts out for me or my club. Mile markers could have done with balloons to make them more visible as I missed quite a few, which was not such an issue as I had my Garmin pacing me. This marathon also has massive PB potential - it is very flat (although there is a bit more of a risk with poor weather). I ran just over 1.28 for the first half and just below 1.30 for the second to go sub 3 hours for the first time ever. So happy with the result so I might be a bit biased about the marathon. In short: Pefect for a PB!!! In full: Even though last year's was very cold, wet and the baggage claim a complete disaster i had to make the long trip up from Plymouth to do it again. The organisation and support from everyone was amazing, and got me a 12 minute PB. I'm still buzzing now, thanks Manchester. Date of review: May 1, 2013
