In short: The start of the Guild series In full: It sounds like a lot of runners missed out on this one as there ended up being a big waiting list so I`m glad I got in.
The weather was kind and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the park was not being from the area.
It was a decent course, point-to-point, in parks and riverbank paths but the start was very congested and lots of runners had put themselves too close to the front. The narrow paths in the first k made overtaking alomost impossible. However, once through that, the race became a lot quicker and thankfully it was chip-timed.
There was a fair amount of support and the marshalls were cheerful plus there was a nice tech t-shirt in the goody bag at the end.
I`ve done lots of races but this was my first 5k. Although it didn`t feel like a `special` event (as you`d hope with the Guild year only occuring every 2 decades), I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the remaining 3 races. Date of review: May 8, 2012
