In short: Nice local course
In full: This is quite a local course for me so a no brainer to attend really.

Plus points: Friendly atmosphere and decent organisation. Nice running on mostly scenic flat canal side paths and locks with some on a 'nature' reserve (probably a naturalised pit spoil or something but with surprisingly good views when you get the the top), grass playing field and paths. Fun run for the kids and plenty of space for the dog. Great marshalling. Nice flapjack at the end. Overall, a nice friendly local run.

Could do betters: Timing chip for official times, medals for the runners (there were some for the kiddies on the fun run though which my daughters really like), the start should be closer to the finish so the supporters can cheer you out and in, a few food stalls would be good for the finish and perhaps a bouncy castle or something else for the family.

Overall, a pretty good job for a local run and as I am so close, I will be returning next year.

In short: Friendly race on interesting course
In full: Worksop may not spring to mind as a race destination, but the Clowne runners Towpath & Trail is a great event well worth the journey. Beginning with a little climb within a nature reserve which strings the field out a little, the route takes you southwards along the Chesterfield canal before looping around a lake and returning via much the same route. There's a section on grass, which is around a kilometer long, and one and a half kilometers on road befor the end, but the rest of the route is mainly on the towpath. It's well marshalled and signed, with no potential for getting lost, friendly and well supported.
Water at the end and complementary massage too!

In short: Twists and turns but flat
In full: Quite tight for the first 2k, so make sure you start at the front if you're going for PBs. Beautiful run down the "out" towpath. I found the run through the long grass round the rugby field quite tiring. Quite a twisty turny course but loads of marshalls to see you right. Flapjack at the end and the memento was a logo'd "Buff"-style snood.

In short: Super
In full: Interesting course with some stiles and kissing gates. Quite tight in places but I suppose if you are fast and at the front that won't bother you. Will be back.

In short: Really enjoyable course but styles / weaving round corners / some single file by canal make it not lightening fast. The most marshalls I have ever seen on a race course though - fab, thanks !

In short: A super scenic and fairly fast race
In full: I thought this was a super race. The first 1k was up (but not steep) and following that it was flat all the way round.

The only thing likely to stop you getting a PB is that the towpath is narrow in places and sometimes you find yourself waiting for an opportunity to pass someone. But who cares, just take a breather and enjoy the scenary.

I'll be back next year.
