In short: Best 10K In full: I have run quite a few 10K races, this was my first time running this event and I was very impressed with the organisation. Manchester is a great city to run around, the course is fairly flat and quick, good for PB's.Highly recommend. Date of review: May 21, 2012

In short: Well organised run that's great for a PB. In full: Terrific atmosphere at the start and finish. It didn't matter which wave you were in the crowds stayed to cheer. The course was fast and the time between the waves meant I got a good run right from the start. The run is well marshalled and the bands on the run really get you through. Loved this year's t-shirt design. Date of review: May 20, 2012

In short: Costly but flat & friendly In full: This was the first time I took part in the Manchester 10k but previously I have done the Great North Run. The atmosphere at the start & finish is great, however the rest of the course is quite dull in terms of sites and support.
The highlights of the event were going through Old Trafford, the music zone and past the charity bus cheering points which lifted the spirits but apart from that there is nothing particularly special about this event.
What lets this event down is the sheer amount of participants and spectators lingering in the streets of Manchester. I took part in the Leeds Half only last weekend and to have an area where everyone can congregate like Millennium Square made the event - not only more enjoyable but also feel much safer. It was quite scary at times when trying to get to and from the start/finish, the sheer volume of people trying to get through something which should be addressed by the organisers.
The cost to enter the event is extremely high for a 10k event even more so when the finisher t.shirts were not good quality techincal t.shirts - again I paid alot less entry fee and ran more miles for my money at the Leeds Half Marathon I got a much better quality t.shirt and medal.
Overall I enjoyed my first Manchester 10k run getting a new PB but I wont be in a hurry to return to a 'Great Series' event...nothing that great about it. Date of review: May 20, 2012

In short: great!! City racing at its best In full: I love this race 5th time doing it. I am not a racing snake and its great being in the pack with a time of just over an hour. Runners are friendly before during and after. I think someone had put a hill in by the imperial war museum because that's where the wheels came off for me. I will be back again next year Date of review: May 20, 2012
