In short: Superb organisation and local support In full: A windy day certainly didn't make the first half of this race easy with an incline that seemed to go on forever through the Westwood! Great to have the last couple of km downhill with a finish through town which was packed with supporters and a superb atmosphere. The whole thing was so well organised with and I've never seen so many marshalls at a race. Bit crowded at the start so took a while to be able to get into your stride. Tough but enjoyable! In short: It's a great race! In full: My second go at the Beverley 10K and it won't be my last. Fantastic organisation at Beverley Leisure Centre. Plenty of parking and loos and a chance to watch the fun run before the main event. Lovely to start right next to the Minster and the initial run through Wednesday Market and under North Bar a really good start. A challenging climb up the Westwood and to Walkington but all downhill from there (definitely a negative split race). The run down the Westwood recharged the legs for a kick as I enter Saturday Market. Once off the cobbles a sprint finish to Wednesday Market past the cheering crowds. Apples, bananas and water at the finish and a chance to cheer other runners home. Wiped 50 seconds off last years time and so chuffed I jogged back to the Leisure Centre for my technical t-shirt and back to the car. Bring on 2014! Date of review: May 20, 2013

In short: Lovely course In full: This was a lovely course but the start was too narrow for the number of runners. There was also no one directing people where to go before the start, and I ended up behind a spectator with a pushchair! The course was really scenic through local countryside though.
Although there were people out on the course watching they only seemed to cheer for the organising club runners, which was a bit disheartening at times. The final stretch into the square was good with plenty of cheering.
Excellent technical t shirt and a medal so very happy with that! Will hopefully do it again next year! Date of review: May 19, 2013

In short: Great family day In full: All round excellent family day. My wife and 5 year old daughter completed the 2k fun run before the main race. First time for my daughter who loved every minute of it. Main race was very well organised. The minster start point was a great focal point. The spectators really got behind the runners during the first mile through the town. The climb by side of Westwood was a nice challenge, then the last two miles was very a very quick down hill before re- entering the town for the home straight. This end part if the race was great, crowd really pushed you in to a strong finish. Fruit at the end was a good idea. Race HQ and parking was very well organised. Will definitely run next year! Well done to the team that organised it! Date of review: May 14, 2013

In short: Good parking; some loo congestion; great course with long useable downhill second half;. In full: Really enjoyed this 10k. Good weather certainly helped, but very well organised. No traffic congestion on approaches (as I had feared), and an excellent course - uphill early on (when you're fresh) and long, useable downhill second half. And a nice finish through the town centre with spectator encouragement. I managed a PB, but I've only been runnning for 12 months - so not sure how it rates for the more experienced runner. My only (very slight) criticism would be the seemingly unavoidable 'loo queue'. Date of review: May 22, 2012
