In short: Great no-frills race In full: Plenty of parking, registration was very quick, safety pins provided, bag drop and toilet queues were not very large even quite close to start time.
The only downside for me was no chip timing, this wasn't a huge thing for me but I had thought there would be, can imagine if you were going for a PB it might be important.
Plenty of marshals and the odd pocket of very enthusiastic supporters where there was space.
There was nothing too steep on the course although a lot of it seemed to be either slightly uphill or slightly down - the kind of gradient that you don't really notice going down but you do on the way up. Date of review: May 16, 2016
In short: Glad I discovered this event In full: A beautifully scenic trail run within a stone's throw of the M25/M4 interchange. Much more of a trail run than I'd expected, with just the first and last kilometre on the road around the business park.
Mild undulations, and a slightly uneven surface in places, but nothing severe.
I had assumed this would be a chip-timed event, like the other Purple Patch race I've taken part in. In fact, there was no chip timing here, but I positioned myself at the front to get an accurate finish time.
The organisation was faultless - plenty of parking on site, fast number collection, adequate toilet facilities, and massage available before and after the race.
Glad I discovered this event. Date of review: May 16, 2016
In short: Super little race In full: A basic no-frills 10K: turn up and run and get your medal! Faultless organisation as always. Great venue with loads of room, catering for runners and support crews, and easy to get to. Fast baggage, plenty of marshals. The course is excellent; all along dirt tracks apart from the first and final km and plenty of shade among trees in fragrant blossom. Not a pb course because of some leg-sapping ups and downs but great fun. All in all an enjoyable day out. Date of review: May 15, 2016
In short: Faultless! In full: Well-marked course, loads of car-parking, cheery marshals, fast km to finish, clockwork organisation, nice medal, lots of prize categories ...and sunshine! Perfect. Date of review: May 18, 2015
In short: Purple Patch maintain their usual excellent standard! In full: Brilliant race in all respects. This year's very warm sunny weather on the day, enhanced the usual challenge of varying surfaces, and undulations. Parking is easy and plentiful, and close to the start/finish. Number pick up is speedy, organisation and marshalling top notch, and refreshments available on site. Results were available pretty quickly. What more could you ask for? Chip Timing? Well I believe that will feature next year, when I'll be back ! Date of review: May 20, 2014
In short: Not the easiest, but one of the friendliest! In full: A challenging course with a mix of surfaces under foot, a few ups and downs to keep you guessing, and a few twists and turns (oh, and it was bloomin' hot!). BUT! Some of the most encouraging marshals around, a lovely flat tarmac-ed km or so at the end to sharpen up your sprint finish, a brilliant atmosphere at the finish line, with plenty of spectators, and entertaining commentary including mention of many individual runners as they crossed under the gantry. Plenty of parking, great facilities, no-fuss number collection, something for the whole family (including a kids' race), and it all ran as smoothly as ever. Thumbs up! Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: A hidden gem - don't tell too many people! In full: Excellent organisation as you'd expect from Purple Patch. The car parking, baggage drop and cafe a matter of yards from the start/finish was all great, but the real treat for me was the lovely scenic and interesting course. Who'd ever know that you'd find such a great place to run from a business park just off the M4 - hats off PP. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Great little race - well kept secret In full: Surprised this race isn't a bigger event. Great facilities at the start, friendly marshalls and very scenic trails -felt like we were out in the countryside. Will be back next year (and hoping for a bit less sunshine for once!) In short: Brilliant organisation, very handy venue In full: SP has everything you need from a race - easy to get to, plenty of parking near the start/finish, coffee shops and refreshments on site, easy for spectators to see runners on the course. The course is fairly challenging but not prohibitively so. My only mini-moan this year was the marshal at the sharp-turn around point (not entirely obvious until you were right on it) who was engrossed with his phone rather than making sure that no runners went the wrong way! Other than that, fully up to Purple Patch's usual high standards. Well done and thanks to all involved. Date of review: May 15, 2013
