In short: fast flat race..i just didn't do it justice!
In full: second time doing this...and i found it a struggle today in the heat...and a bit of a chest infection which i know i shouldn't have run with...but great organisation throughout and the support all the way around was great.was it me or did anyone else not see or experience the "cooling" misters that were supposed to be at a couple points around the route? anyeway good medal t shirt and goody bag at the end. will certainly do this again!

In short: Excellent atmosphere
In full: Very well organised for us 'average' runners. Wonderful crowds supporting on most of the route. Start, bag drop etc were great.
Scorching hot day - what happened to the misting showers they were testing for the Olympics? - the only negative.
Cobbles in Leadenhall Market were tricky - presume there will be a carpet for the Olympics?

In short: mixed bag
In full: Bit of a mixed bag - some of the organisation was completely brilliant as you'd expect from London Marathon organisers, let down by bit of a shambles at the finish
the good - pre-race day info, the start, the atmosphere, water stations
the bad - wrong info at the start about water stations, where were the water misters? (really needed them in that heat!) & was directed away at the finish with other championship runners to an area with no water & no info about where we were supposed to go. eventually went back to main finish to get water, goody bag & medal.
Disappointing as the rest was brilliant!

In short: Super hot but otherwise PB potential
In full: Great race to be part of. Had a club entry so started with Mo and the fast boys. Slight criticism in that the championship runners aren't graded so everyone piles forward. Will remember to get near the front next time. If it hadn't been so hot there would have been a lot more PB because of the quality and depth of the field. Amazing running round London. Lots of drinks stations during the race but none at the finish, a mistake was made where all the championship runners were directed back to the Academy. No water. My head and body was pounding and it took 10mins to get back. We should have been directed to the goody bag collection before going back the academy. Wouldn't stop me running it again as otherwise the organisation was excellent and the facilities given to the championship runners were superb and really appreciated. Thanks to the organisers.

In short: Great race brilliantly organised.
In full: Fabulous race and organisation that totally shames the similar London 10k.
Had the added bonus of being passed twice by Mo Farah warming up along Grosvenor Place as we walked to the start.

In short: Incredibly organised, good heavy medal, tons of race photos and good location!
In full: Amazingly organised, nothing left to chance.
Waves start made things easier and prevented stampede.
Nice goodie bag with medal, tshirt and various food/drink items.
Great location as well, running down the embankment and across the city. I loved the live bands that were around.
It was an incredibly hot day but the water stations were smartly located - even though there was a mis-communication in the beginning whether they would be on the 3k and 5.5k or the 3k and 7k. Plus I only saw one misting station not two (but it was goooood).
I got around 14 photos on the photo website - which is definitely a first so I'm very glad about that.

In short: Amazing atmosphere, extremely hot, great British landmarks, exceptional organisation, large supporting crowds
In full: First time I have ran this race and it was amazing to experience the olympic marathon route.

Introduction of the elites like Mo Farah at the start gave me that added inspiration to confidence to tackle the course.

Despite the course being described as good PB potential, it was actually more challenging than I thought. Iconic landmarks and crowds made it an exceptional race event.

In short: 2nd year of running, what a difference with the route changed for the Olympic marathon,
In full: there were some reports from people with Garmin watches that the course was slightly over the the 10k, only 2 moans about the day was that the water stop wish they could have put them on both sides instead of the one at 3k as a lot of runners cut others up to get to water and the 2nd they said there would be water misters at 5k but when i got to them they were not working, other than that it was well organised and well run and the music was very up lifting looking forward to next year, may be will not be so hot

In short: Brilliant atmosphere & brilliant sunshine gave me a brilliant pb
In full: 10000 runners assembling in Green Park set the atmosphere. Then down to the start where the scale of this race becomes clear. I was lucky enough to start near the head of the throng. The course has a few tight bends at the beginning, through Trafalgar Square and onto Embankment, which slowed us slightly, but once past these bottlenecks, it was a great run past St Pauls, into the City, through Leadenhall Market. Relieved that the hills weren't long enough to wreck my pace. Then back down to the return leg on Embankment where I needed to dig in deep. Big Ben signals the final stretch and turning into the Mall, where the Marathon finish will be in a few weeks, was a fantastic feeling - flags, cheering crowds, and best of all, the finish line. It was impossible not to be inspired. Great organisation, in the same race as Mo Farah, loads of free stuff and a lovely park to relax in after and chat with endorphined-up athletes. Yes, it costs more than a club event, but you can't beat the feeling of being part of a big event like this.

In short: Well organised big race
In full: My second year of doing this. Like other BUPA events it was well organised. They may cost a bit more but thats the price for decent crowd control at a big event which is easy to get wrong but manages very well.
Seemed busier than last year so if you are set on a PB you may find it frustrating. Great London crowds and fantastic to run past so many landmarks.
Medal same design as last year - why not an Olympic or Queens Jubilee theme?
Dont think the misters were working - I actually got soaked going through them last year!
If you want a big race without the pain (or luck) to get into VLM then this is a great alternative.
