In short: Lovely well organised race one of my favourites In full: I belong to a local women's running group and 16 of us ran HBO this year with most of us achieving PB's. Beautiful scenic course which is well organised and well marshalled. The locals turn out in force and a rock choir sent us on our way a fantastic event. Only minor gripe is the finish area was very congested when trying to deposit timing chips and collect T-shirts. But one I would definitely do year after year Date of review: May 29, 2013
In short: Excellent as always... In full: A fantastic race. The scenery is beautiful and the crowds just brilliant as you come through the village. The only small negative is the distribution of t shirts at the end, a bit congested but other than that perfectly organised. Will be back. Date of review: May 29, 2013
In short: A top notch event - I'll be back next year! In full: This was my first ever 'official' 10k race, having only recently got into more competitive running (against myself, that is).
Everything about it was geared up to make it successful and enjoyable. The organisation was slick and efficient, car parks well marked, the route itself clear and well marshalled, and the scenery stunning. Even the weather was perfect - bright, warm, but not too hot.
I managed to smash my PB and it seemed like a pretty quick course - one or two inclines but nothing severe.
This has set the bar very, very high for any other races I attend - and I'll definitely be back next year! Date of review: May 29, 2013
In short: Outstanding - AGAIN!! In full: 3rd time round the Big O Superbly organised happy atmosphere, complete with Rock Choir for an epic send off. Looping back through the village to hear the crowds again. Worth every penny and more. Thank you!! xxx Date of review: May 29, 2013
In short: FABULOUS! In full: My first ever HBO and I wasn't disappointed: Super, scenic course, plenty of great crowd support, atmosphere and plenty of toilets too. The organisers should be incredibly proud of their achievement, to stage such a super 10K, perfect in every way! Loved the t-shirt too, and that I managed to run faster than last Sunday which was on a totally flat course. I will most certainly be back next year, provided that I will continue to stay injury-free. Thanks for a great day out! Date of review: May 27, 2013
In short: Shows what a community can do when it goes all out to put on a great event In full: Hatfield Broad Oak is a lovely place and the locals are clearly proud enough to spoil those of us who come there to race. The course is worth the visit alone; undulating but fast with great views and generous support from the crowds. Add to that the brilliant organisation and the famous t-shirt and this is the perfect place to spend the spring bank holiday. And I haven't even mentioned the village fete.
