In short: Disappointing In full: I was looking forward to this race, but felt very disappointed. The organisation was all over the place. The finish line was not clear, and people were just standing around/ on the line. The water station after the finish was not clearly labelled, and then it was small little cups- what happened to a bottle. Worst race I have been to this year. Date of review: July 30, 2015
In short: Nice seaside race In full: Good organisation (the marshalling was absolutely brilliant!), being a grey and windy Sunday morning meant that there weren't that many people on the promenade, which was good for us as there were no closures in place. The only downside from being coastal is the wind which was against us for around half of the race, but I guess there's nothing one can do about it! :) Date of review: July 13, 2015
In short: Really good event despite torrential rain. In full: After reading previous reviews I was unsure about entering this one. What made my mind up was the fact that nearly all the Nice Work events have a kids race. When you have a 5 year old champing at the bit to run like his dad this makes the difference. (Well done Nice Work!). The previous years reviews I presume had been listened to as I found everything brilliant. Toilets nearby, water stations.. everything you could need. Started off dry but the rain came 2 miles in and boy did it rain. Course is fairly flat apart from one hill 2/3rds in. Ran my all time best time by over 3 minutes so was chuffed.. Will be back. In short: Good little race, on a nice course by the sea. In full: The race was poorly signposted from the road and if I did not already know where it was, I would of found it hard to find. The problem with the race numbers, with people entering on the day having no race number worked well for me. Do not really need a number, if you have a race chip for your time. It saves paper and time putting a number on. The course was really good with a lovely mostly flat, seaside route. The race was marshalled well, but there was very little support on the course. The marshals were the only ones to give any support and did a top job doing this. The finish area was good and the results were posted quickly after the race. Date of review: July 31, 2013
In short: No Toilets so run for the bushes... In full: Course was a bit of a let down as you had to run past the finish line to complete the final 1 1/2 km... not too nice running past the finishing line with another 1 1/2 k to go as other whippets are finishing. Also there were no toilets and the nearest were over a km away from the start/finish unless you wanted to use the local shrubbery for cover... Date of review: August 1, 2012
In short: Toilet Gate! In full: Firstly, Nice Work put on a number of events and they work like clockwork (i.e. clear route, well marshalled, chip timing and results on the website quickly) - however, there was one main issue with this event...
The nearest toilets were over 1K away which meant around a 2.2K return trip from the start line to go to the loo before the race started. This is really too far for a paid event - hopefully the start line can be repositioned for 2013 a lot closer to the loos!
As for the course itself, it was fairly featureless, but I could have guessed that beforehand, it is pretty well flat all the way round so quick times are pretty possible.
