In short: Gorgeous route, great cameraderie and no queue for the loos! Oh and HOT showers! In full: First time this race had been run and couldn't fault the organisation. The marshalls were on the ball and the layout of the campsite and route were very good.
Plenty of portaloos which were clean (regularly re-stocked with loo roll etc) and HOT showers!! Wonderful!
The route was lovely and very scenic although I felt that the fact the first 2 miles were uphill was a bit sadistic! Lovely undulating route and well marked and marshalls about every mile or so.
We were in a team of 8 and we all agreed that we are definitely coming back next year! Date of review: July 4, 2012
In short: Great atmosphere and set up In full: I entered this late but never for a moment regretted it (well okay, maybe for a moment, once or twice during the night). It was really well organised and I thought the format worked well. It was a bit disconcerting at times to keep being passed by all the relay runners who were fresher and faster - but the relay meant there was always a good atmosphere and plenty of encouragement for us solo runners. I can particularly recommend this for anyone who's new to this kind of event and just wants to see how far they can go with no pressure to finish a set distance.
In short: Brilliant In full: This was my first endurance event - I took part as a team of 4 - therefore my view point is definitely as a novice endurance runner however I loved it. The race was well organised, great value for money and had a challenging course which brought into play tactics in the second 12 hours to maintain good times. The facilities were great, the food looked good (I had my own), round the clock massages were a great touch and the music and tannoy seemed to keep people going through the daylight hours. I can't find any fault in the event - please repeat it next year! Date of review: July 2, 2012
In short: Brilliant fun team event In full: A lovely setting in Wasing Park, Reading. Very well organised event with good catering, easy to follow course (after initial correction) and great timing updates. Camping was nice and close to the transition, loos were plentyful and kept stocked and the hot showers were wonderful. Its a playful offroad course and running through the night should not be underestimated however its a great social event. Even a nice medal at the end. If I had to pick a moan (and its difficult to find one)it would be a lack of music in the woods at night to keep us all going and a lack of light in the loos at night. Other than that it was fab!! If my body forgives me I may even do it again next year! Date of review: July 2, 2012
