In short: A good pre marathon test
In full: Yes it's 4 laps for the half marathon, yes there is nothing to look at but if you are there to test yourself who cares? A good flat course, one superbly enthusiastic marshal, lots of space to run your own speed, plenty of parking and cheap as chips. A great race, well organised and perfect timing for a pre marathon test run.

In short: Fast and flat good for PB or marathon training
In full: Very low key and relaxed race. Fast and flat so ideal for PB or marathon tempo run.

Only gripe. Big signs saying no IPODS etc or DQ. As the race was multiple laps I was overtaking some 5K, 10K and half marathon runners. Signs saying keep to left to allow overtaking on the 1 narrow part of the course. 4 Ladies running abreast blocking the path all with earbuds in or the footballer sized earphones, so oblivious to my and another runners cries of track, on your right etc. When we squeezed by we were called (rhymes with banker)and the DQ rule was ignored.

In short: Does what it says on th tin
In full: Yes its laps, yes its dull with no cheering but yes its pancake flat. Personally id prefer hills to the repeated hair pin turns which really slow you and ache the knees. The marshalls were great even though they must have been freezing. I also clocked well over at 13.54 even though i didnt go hugely wide on the bends and the half marathoners had to do the last mile as an add on up and down which was really tough mentally. Not my favourite race but its great value, free and plentiful parking and lovely organisers. Plus all profits to charity.

In short: Super fast PB hunter territory
In full: 2nd time running this (PB for half marathon at this course) cheap as chips to enter. Well organized . The best I have ever ran to get a PB will be back in November to set record straight

In short: speedy
In full: My fifth race here and nothing changes much. Its easily the fastest course I've run. Marshall's were good and the medal fine. One little niggle the last km is an accident waiting to happen.my garmin clocked 13.33. might be back for the 5k.

In short: Great race but Garmin clocked well over distance...
In full: The organisation was superb, the marshalls friendly and efficient and the course is flat and quick, with only a couple of dead turns on each lap to slow you down. However, my GPS clocked 13.53 miles; I always expect to be a bit over (weaving and passing
etc, you never take the racing line) but 0.43ml is a bit much...
Would have got a clear PB, too. Darn.

In short: It is flat
In full: Well I had read previous years reviews so didn't expect anything in terms of views or scenery so wasn't disappointed that there wasn't any. It's an airfield and drag strip. That's it. However I decided to do this race because of its reputation for being flat. I wanted to try and get a pb. I achieved that. So I got what I paid for basically. If you want scenery look for another race, if you don't like laps look for another race. If you want pb potential then do this race. Apart from that medal was good water stations fine, mile km markers ok. Marshals good. So may try the 10k next time, weirs 3 races starting together though didn't know who around me was doing which race so a tad confusing.

In full: good points for this race.it was well organised with plenty of marshalls and drink stations and the course was well marked.appart from a few twisty turns also a good course for a PB.the down point is that this is probably the most boring half marathon i have ever run!with nothing to look at and by the 4th lap was slightly depressing.definately a race for the PB basher rather than going for the race itself.perhaps the 2 lap 10k would be a more recommendable option to the half unless you are a serious half marathoner!

In short: Excellent and friendly
In full: Excellent could do without the aerobic warm up before the race thought that was pathetic and unnecessary. But enjoyed the run just avoid the start area early for draining your energy for the run with the aerobic workout.

In short: Love this race
In full: I've done arace here twice, and love it. The 5k, 10k and half marathon all start together, so you have people speeding off - you have no idea who is running what race, so you need to keep at your pace andbe aware. It is an interesting course, but you do go round 4 times for the half Mara, the spectators are not all along the course so at times it is just you against the clock. However, although all this sounds negative - I love this race! The organisation is great, the marshals along the route are lovely (even in the pouring rain and cold!), the other runners are very friendly (and very speedy! I usually run this race quite fast, so pb's for me, as I am so scared of coming last!). The medal is great, good quality. And they ave cute things - like people selling home made cakes, or homer grown pears to take home. Also the course is dead flat. Love!
