In short: 2013 - Rating - Excellent course and medal In full: Having read the reviews for 2012, I decided that it was worth a 70 mile round trip to enter the 2nd East Harling 10K. Good directions on the East Harling Social Club website to find the venue, at which you had to collect your number. Picked up number at the registration desk, no 'good morning' or 'thankyou for entering/supporting the event'. Nothing, which was a shame. However, the Race Director did pull it round at the start line, by thanking people for supporting the event etc. Once started, the race followed an excellent route with just over half on road and half via track through woods, which given the conditions, the shade was appreciated. Upon finishing, runners received a nice medal, crisps and custard creams. Cake was also available. I would do this again, but people must be made to feel welcome! As the number of entrants have grown and this benefits all who are involved. Date of review: July 18, 2013
In short: Superbly organised In full: Well done East Harling. For a first time event, that wasn't organised by a running club, this was first class. Bring on next year and the year after and the year after that. Excellent job. Date of review: July 16, 2012
In short: Well organised and marshalled In full: Great race, superbly organised and marshalled. Good support throughout. Nice mix of club and local runners. Homemade cake at end fabulous - no need for the sweets in the goodie bag - cake far superior! Loved the off road section through the forest.
In short: Excellent event, well worth adding to the racing calendar! In full: This was the first staging of this event and the organisers had obviously worked really hard to get everything right. The East Harling sports ground was a great venue - easy parking, good facilities and lots of room for spectators.
The route was more or less flat with an interesting off road section in the middle. Plenty of marshalls, two water stations and free homemade cake at the end which was delicious.
Only improvement would be to enable online entry to do away with the faff of stamped addressed envelopes (runners could collect numbers on the day)! Date of review: July 15, 2012
In short: Very well organised event. In full: This was the first running of this race. It was very well organised. It runs through villages and a forest trail. Nice medal and free cake at the end! I would definately do it again. Date of review: July 15, 2012
