In short: Nice location, excellent organisation, fast course and great for spectators
In full: I managed a PB on the fast, flat course, despite the headwind on the run back from the windmill (I suppose there's a reason they built a windmill there!). A really nice course, with the only slight imperfection being the 2 or 3 miles on the road with traffic passing. The organisation was excellent, especially the sign posting - I have never seen so many signs on a course and the route was very clearly marked and very well marshalled. It was good to have bottled water on the course (not always seen at smaller races) and the bananas and biscuits at the end were very welcome. The start and finish at Fairhaven lake cafe was the perfect venue for spectators and make this a great race to bring the family to. This was the first running of the Windmill for twenty-odd years but I sincerely hope it is back for good.

In short: Really well organised and enjoyable event
In full: You can't ask for much more for the money. Great views, well marshalled and signed flat course, loads of water (needed it!), friendly atmosphere and lots of bananas and wagon wheels at the finish! It was my first road half marathon and I'd say it's a very good one to start with. Well done to FCR, a very well run event.

In short: Very Sceninc Flat Course
In full: Very enjoyable run, with being flat would have been a great pb potential run if not for the strong headwind for half the course. Lovely setting as well with the lake and the coastal run, also running past the windmill.
Overall a bargain at £16 considering most other halfs are over £30. Would definetely run this race again next year hoping for a still day!!

In short: Flat + fast! Plan your PB charge here!
In full: Really well-organised and friendly half-marathon that is made for both club runners looking for an event to plan a PB spurt, as well as novice runners looking for a good bargain event in a nice place to take those first tentative steps at longer distances.

Two long laps + some extras before and after the laps on pancake-flat seafront tarmac. Yes, the wind does get up, but it helps as much as it hinders. It's a nice place for a half-marathon as it combines scenery with accessibility: families who are there to attend have a raft of activities they can do and a few local cafes to attend while the loved ones are struggling around.

In short: Friendly flat half
In full: I had an enjoyable day but no pb for me due to having to cope with pretty bad blisters from mile 8 which is unusual for me. The headwind also made for tough going on the two loop course.

Very friendly event, good location for the family to come and watch - my daughter enjoyed a day on the beach and my partner enjoyed the bacon butties from the cafe.

Nice medal plus water and snacks at the finish.

In short: A superb half marathon
In full: My first half marathon, after concentrating mainly on 10k events for the last couple of years but a thoroughly enjoyable one.The chance to run without pressures of times/pbs etc was a great feeling indeed. The looped scenic course made the distance feel like less(which was no bad thing)Organisation was excellent.Massive queues for toilets but not a lot they could do about that I suppose.I had expected free parking but luckily had a few pounds in the car for the £3.20 pay and display..Mementos-Id rather have the offered wagon wheel and a medal any day than a bag full of flyers.Nice medal too.The general feeling was of friendly fellow runners happily chatting to each other and out to enjoy the event.I didnt feel any of the clubby atmosphere that some races have become all too accustomed to.Marshals were encouraging and water was plentiful around the course. Some -bonus-great sea views on route which helped me forget the particularly strong wind. Thanks to all concerned and a BIG well done to the organisers.

In short: Very good race hope it gets repeated next year
In full: PB potential if the elements are in your favour. Good flat course the only downside was a strong head wind for nearly half the race. Could have done with a map of the race (if there was one apologies I didn't see it). Decent support throughout as there are always people walking along for the majority of the course.
