In short: Very enjoyable In full: My first time at this race and I would definitely do it again. Extremely well organised with good and very informal facilities - participants were happy to just leave their baggage in the village hall (no supervised baggage storage) or in the car since parking was so close to the venue.
Nice course with pleasant scenery, although possibly a little more undulating than I was expecting. Nothing steep but enough uphill drags to keep things interesting - and the last climb up to the finish was just cruel! First race after the summer so no PB for me but pleased overall with my performance. A dry and sunny day although quite breezy in places.
Good technical t-shirt - but I will say what I always say about these: PLEASE consider offering them in women's S, M & L sizes as well as in men's sizes. Many female runners are petite and I would like to be able to wear the t-shirt I've worked hard for! As it is I always end up giving race t-shirts to my husband who isn't even a runner! In short: First time doing Pleshey and will definitely return, rural route, fantastic marshalls and slick organisation. A cool medal and hi vis tech tee-shirt at the end. No complaints, keep up the good work! Date of review: September 21, 2014
In short: Great race In full: Great course, great organisation, great marshals, great atmosphere, great medal, great lime green technical t-shirt, put on by runners for runners no frills just a great course in lovely country in more or less perfect weather (warm but a bit cloudy). Well done Springfield striders will be back next year! Date of review: September 21, 2014
In short: Well organised, good course, a run for runners, organised by runners In full: A very nice run, obviously organised by a running club as they know what runners like, no fuss, no hype and a very nice techie T at the end, (can I echo previous sentiments, Shocking Pink next year pls)
Course is excellent, ok, maybe a few drags up, but no real hills, just the finish is a bit uppy, but that might just be 'cos I blew up @ 10.
Only slight cons might be - water bottle too big, but on a hotter day? so better too big than too small, and venue - no facilities to change, ok if the weather is good, but more of a prob if it had been wet/cold.
But, all-in-all, a great race, well done Springfield Striders! Date of review: September 26, 2013
In short: fast mainly flat course with PB potential In full: This was the first time I had broken a sweat in nearly 2 weeks due to injury, but the easy profile of the course made it a good race to come back to. Was doing well up to 9 miles, then lack of fitness started to show and split times for the last 4 miles very dissapointing. That aside this course is mainly flat & pretty fast so I'll be back next year with a PB in mind. T shirt was great, nice bright orange, and just in time for winter training, I noticed last years was bright yellow, how about being really brave next year and make it florescent pink? Go on be different! Date of review: September 25, 2013
In short: Great local Race through the Lanes In full: Great local race though the picturesque lanes of Essex, great organization an marshaling. It's beginner friendly, but also plenty of company for the fastees with lots of local clubs running. Date of review: September 25, 2013
In short: fabulous race In full: I am slightly biased about this race as it is run by my running club, Springfield Striders, and I helped a little behind the scenes. However, a really really nice course out in the Essex countryside, a few undulations but that wasn't a problem. As i know how much organisation goes on for this race, i have high praise for the Race director Ian and his team; everything seemed to go really well. Nice technical orange t-shirt at the end, well fitting. And what can i say about the marshalls??!! Obviously as they all knew me, it seemed like I had my personal cheering squad but every runner was greeted with a smile and a cheer. we must not also forget the awesome cakes, teas, coffees, bacon and sausage sandwiches provided by Pleshey villagers - thank you! Well done again guys!! Date of review: September 25, 2013
In short: My first 1/2, so nothing to compare it to, but very fair course and friendly atmosphere. In full: I was told it was a fairly flat course, but found it had slow hill climbs and descents which took it out on my legs. Loved it generally, so will return in the future. I too think the water bottles were a great touch(sliding cap type, pre- opened by volunteers) , but could do with being half the size,as so much was wasted when discarded, because of people not wanting to carry them for great distances!!
