In short: Excellent- but very technical in places In full: This was a great event and there was a lot of pre-race camaraderie, nice cake stand before the race. The course itself was pretty undulating, and one descent in particular was suicidally steep and rocky, and I have the scars to prove it! However it was excellently marshalled and plenty of kind souls came along to clap and cheer us on. Good prizes, lovely engraved plates, but not many people stuck around at the end for the prizegiving- maybe next year have something to keep those who didn't win prizes entertained?
All in all, an excellent race- I'll be back next year. Date of review: September 30, 2013
In short: A great off road course, some hills that make you work, beautiful day, nice medal, plenty of water bananas and Mars at the finish :-). Finish line is very sudden, but very well marshalled. Will be on my calendar for 2014 for sure. Date of review: September 28, 2013
In short: My local training area, now the scene of a very good run. In full: For a first race, very well done. More course information needed as the finish was a bit of a sudden surprise. I disagree with the comment of a lack of marshals. There was one at every turning warning of hazards underfoot and a good drinks station at mid point, courtesy of a local restaurant. Overall, a very good start on a lovely course in superb weather. Date of review: September 30, 2012
In short: Beautiful countryside, challenging 5k route. In full: Good race, 2.5k downhill, 2.5k uphill, beautiful countryside. Organisation needs a little work but for an inaugural race it was a good start. Only specific comment would be a marker to sign the end of the 5k race as it was just a sharp right hand turn off the 10k course which wasn't obvious! Date of review: September 29, 2012
