In short: My first half marathon. A great experience and I want to run it again.
In full: I was nervous doing this my first half marathon when I found out the terrain was mixed, there was a huge climb and it had been raining the week before. I shoudln't have worried. The organisation was amazing as was the support along the route. Gorgeous scenery and achievable effort. I had a great run and despite thinking I might only run one half ever I finished wanting to do it again. Great run.

In short: Well Organised and great scenery
In full: The weather was perfect, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed as much crawlling up the trundle in the rain, it was a challenging course and would have found it harder if I wasn't running with a friend.
The last few miles seemed to go on and on but will be back next year.
Very well organised.

In short: Great scenery half way, friendly marshalls, value for money, needs slight route changes
In full: For a first time event, it went quite smoothly. always a test and the organisers did quite well. The start and finish area is good and nice to have good catering & refreshment facilities and merchandise outlets. The fab weather helped!

The course: very mixed terrain! Strongly suggest varying the start and the run through the underpass. Potentially very dangerous. OK for the first few front runners, but could be a prob when the masses stream through. After that, a nice meander on back roads across fields, then up the long climb. Steepish near the top, but fab views. As a 'local' i knew what to expect. There is a long descent, followed by a long, straight, flat 5 miles on tarmac back to the finish. Lots of loose dogs here, so could be a prob. I nearly tripped over one of them! Some Marshall positions and route signage needs to be tweaked a little as not very clear. Particularly, as Tom Frost said, the Marshall at the start of the old railway line just off the main road was standing in the wrong place. I suggested that she move forward near the split in the path. She agreed. Otherwise, the rest was good. Plenty of Marshalls and all very happy and helpful. And plenty of water stations. Perhaps introduce cups next time? A huge waste handing out bottles just for a few sips!

Nice goodies at end, but agree, the medal was a bit 'naff'.

In summary: a very challenging route, great facilities and a nice city to run in. Just needs some slight changes and this could be a great race for the future and become popular.

Many thanks to all the Marshalls, helpers and organisers for a great event and thanks to nature for the superb weather.

Keep on running!

In short: Great first time event, varied interesting course
In full: Well impressed with the organisation for this first time event. Loads of friendly marshals all over the place and great support in a lot of places. One marshal missing in Lavant, just before it turns off to go on the old railway under the main road bridge? The course was really varied over the first half and a long drag up and around The Trundle but presonally I did not mind that. Second half was nice and flat mostly along the old railway line on tarmac. Last few miles dragged a bit. Overall superb and has the makings of a classic race.

In short: Excellent
In full: Really enjoyed this race, from the start of the warm up to the welcome back at the finish! Excellent warm up, I don't usually do the group warm up but it was quite cold so it really helped get me moving! Every marshal was happy and clapping, plenty of water stations. And a hearty welcome back with a good goodie bag. Overall very well organised, excellent first go.

In short: Enjoyable run
In full: A pleasant half marathon. Plenty of parking. Started on time. Loads of marshals, nice out route with great views at the out and back bit. A couple of pinch points on the outward leg that may be an issue if the event grows. You receive a mundane medal at the finish with an event bag that had bits and pieces including energy bar and a protein bar. Overal worth doing.

In short: The views are worth it at the top!
In full: A tough race that takes in beautiful views of the South Downs. The race is a mix of road, mud and trail, effectively split in half. Uphill for the first 10K and downhill most of the rest. The uphill comes to a crescendo with the 2 mile steep climb up Chalk Pit Lane and then the Trundle, but the panoramic views at the top make it worthwhile. Then it's steep downhill and a quick race home.

Organisation was good and friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Mile markers were a little out.

However, overall great for a first year event.
