In short: One of my favourite races
In full: I have run this race for the last four years, and 2012 proved to me why I love it... I have been fighting for a new PB for 2 years and at last beat it in this race (of all races)! This is most definitely one of my favourite races. The organisation is good, the route is scenic and challenging, and, quite simply, it's fun!

In short: good Fun !! with added hills !!
In full: 2nd time at this race, It is a shame about the main road but the downs always make up for this, I'm very pleased as I knocked off 11 mins from last year. The egg n Bacon roll at the end was fab :)

In short: A few minor niggles but otherwise a lovely way to spend a crisp autumn morning!
In full: Pros:
2nd half of the course was lovely. That coupled with running largely downhill for the last 3 miles made for a great finish.

In race organisation was fine; plenty of enthusiastic marshals and water stops where they should be.

I liked the t-shirt at the end. Some people complain about not getting goody bags etc but personally I'd much rather have something I can actually use in the future.

Cons:
The organisation at the start needs to be improved a bit. We arrived a hour before start time but by the time we had got parked, changed, queued up to get our numbers, obligatory visit to the loo and made the walk upto the line we found we had actually missed the start! The main problem was the queuing for the numbers. Similar size races I have been to (Grand Union Canal, Upflow Downtow - Purple Patch Running, Canterbury - Nice Work)post the numbers to you beforehand which is great as it means one thing less to faff around doing on the day. The queuing system itself was also somewhat chaotic as the hall was bursting to the brim with runners queuing, warming up or dropping off bags, race organisers and people setting up stalls.

The first half was a bit bland/occasionally dangerous. OK, so I probably didn't help myself here by starting late but being forced to spend a large chunk of the race running in single file along busy A roads didn't really help the racing too much.

In short: Great Race
In full: Well done Maidstone. Found it a race of 2 half, 1st was not great- busy roads & impatient drivers, but 2nd half more than made up for it as lovely scenery and quiet roads.
Sweatshop vouchers, medal + always good to get a t-shirt I would actually want to wear out running . Well done Maidstone.

In short: Great race!
In full: I ran this race last year and was not disappointed again this time. Quite a few hills which make it slightly challenging but some down hill and flat too. The marshalls were great, really encouraging. The only down side is collecting your number and chip before the race, it was chaotic in the hall. A nice tshirt in addition to the medal was a nice touch. Well worth doing.

In short: Well done to Maidstone Harriers
In full: This race nearly scored a perfect 5/5 except for one thing - that it was too crowded/hectic in the hall where runners were collecting their race numbers - there really was little room - Sweatshop possibly took up too much space for their stall or should I say mobile shop!!! Out on the course, everything was first class, great organisation, great marshalls and a lovely clear and crisp morning which guaranteed great views of the North Downs. A medal, technical t-shirt, £5 Sweatshop voucher made for excellent value for money. A big well done to Maidstone Harriers!

In short: Hilly but enjoyable
In full: Not so sure about the picking up of numbers before race as this was a bit hectic but FairPlay to organisers the race still started on time. Marshalls around course were excellent and so encouraging. Not a PB race but the hills are not overly hard they just test you. Well done again

In short: My 3rd time at this race, friendly, great organisation, super support all the way around. I never remember to do enough hill training in preparation! Nice route. Useful tech t-shirt too. Thanks Harriers.
