In short: Tough little beasty, go on give it a go!! In full: The organisation was good, 3 recces prior to the race, thanks to Alan and team. Lots of loud supportive marshalls, fantastic local support, the people from the Glodwick community were exceptionally brilliant with their loud shouts, sweets and drinks for us all. Brilliant atmosphere. Nice T-shirt, well blooming earnt. Tough challenging race, many more ups than downs, quite a few runners chose it for their first half marathon. Respect. Free food at the pub at the end. Yum yum.. I would recommend it to everyone. Date of review: October 25, 2013
In short: Teeth grittingly enjoyable. In full: This is a Very well run event, there's plenty of support on the way round, masses of marshals (thanks guys)good water (not flimsy cups you cant drink from). Loved having my name called out as I went over the line and could get my time and positioning printed off as soon as I could talk again due to the good work of the chip timing people. In short: Outstanding - yet again. In full: This really is one of my favourite races:
- Very friendly - Exceptionally well organised - Excellent marshalling - Tough, scenic course - Some really nice bonuses - chip timing, bottled water (with sports caps), buffet & reception after the race, instant printout of your time available etc. etc.
A really refreshing change from some of the more 'corporate' big half marathons.
In short: Satisfying hilly race with great local suport. In full: Really enjoyed this great race. Definitely tough and hilly but who wants to race on the flat all the time? Time to man (or woman) up! Great organisation on the day, some lovely scenery through Saddlworth, great support all the way round the course and tech t-shirt to boot. Go on, be brave! Date of review: October 21, 2013
In short: Tough course but well worth it In full: Billed as one of the toughest half marathons around it lived up to its name. However, the organisation and atmosphere made up for the tough hills. The last 2 miles were filled with an abundance of support from the locals (& the kids were particularly brilliant). The last hill into Oldham town centre was evil though but just round the corner the finish line was in sight with the commentator naming all the runners coming through the finish line. Well done to all those involved! Date of review: October 21, 2013
In short: friendly supportive marshalls, loud and cheery spectators, mean hills. Fantastic. In full: It was a lovely day, marshalls, public, cadets, organisers, all race goers were fantastic, a really good atmosphere. Quite a challenging race with amazing views. Not everyones first choice for a half, make sure you have done some hill training first! Loving the tech t-shirt and result, the right size, doesn't fit like a dress!! Also a fine selection of spot prizes and a yummy free feast at Up the Stairs afterwards. Date of review: October 25, 2012
