In short: How could running in these conditions be so enjoyable?
In full: Running in the dark, in the pouring rain, on windy cycle paths (with the chance of an occasional illegal moped rider) could be a recipe for disaster, but the Spartans made it work.

Communal facilities in a local sports hall and a slow jog to the starting line some distance away were a good warm-up to the event. This isn't a race that you do for the scenery, but the course was firm, fast and mainly flat with definite PB potential - although I didn't see any distance markers which would have helped. Back at the sports hall, tea, biscuits, crisps, bananas and chocolate bars were all in good supply.

A special mention should be made about the quantity, quality and enthusiasm of the marshals, who stood out in the poor weather to provide safety and support for all. I loved it and will definitely be back for the other two races, no matter what the weather!

In short: Decent course
In full: Perhaps a bit tougher than the old course? not sure though, less 90 degree turns, but more inclines. Still a good PB race and fantastic weather!

In short: Quick- One for the PB Hunters
In full: Race itself was pretty well organised. Only complaint was the chaos in the car park before the race.

Nice rereshment too.

In short: Real PB potential
In full: Mostly club runners, but at 7:45 on a cold night in Stevenage you'll not get very many fun-runners! Every year this series seems to yield PB's and new club records, it's a great benefit to be able to run all 3 of the series. Not the nost picturesque location, but then you should be working hard enough that you hardly notice the scenery.
This event sells out year after year, so book early to get a place.
