In short: A nice mixed terrain 8 miler, plenty of hills (if you like that sort of thing)
In full: A really good smaller race, lovely scenery, well organised, quite a few hills which were tricky to negotiate with the icy conditions (a few people I saw fell over).

Free banana at the end but no medal. Chip timing on the gun rather than when you cross the start isn't great but not a big deal if you time yourself.

Pretty quick course and a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. Well marked out and marshaled.

Really nice touch to be able to download your race photos for free rather than having to pay like most events (although mine were pretty hideous so I didn't bother).

In short: Hogs Back Race just got better
In full: The improved route means less traffic and an extra hill early on - lovely. A well run race, fabulous scenery and the parking is easier now within Loseley grounds. Well done everyone for making this classic even better!

In short: Challenging hills and steep climbs. Very good organisation and friendly marshalls. Distance markers should be in MILES NOT KM. Some warning about distance to the finish would be helpful.

In short: Mildly hills, very pretty, most enjoyable.
In full: Lovely day out. Well organised, lots of loos, queues at check in weren't too bad, plenty of parking.

The run itself was very pretty - a mixture of trail and road but the vast majority of the roads were very very quiet. Lots of nice views from the top of the Hogs Back.

All in all, a good event.

In short: Superb scenery and good organisation
In full: A most enjoyable race, a good course which was hilly but not unreasonably so and which provided excellent views. The start/ finish venue was an excellent one - with good organisation to deal with relatively limited parking given the recent wet weather. One thing perhaps to watch for next year if it is as cold as this year is that there was a patch of ice where water had run across the road at around the 8km mark, on which I (and others) took a fall. I realise that there is not much that can be done about the weather but a warning sign of some kind would probably be sensible

In short: Excellent new course in lovely settings
In full: This is a local race for me and I have run the old version several times. I would like to congratulate the organisers on a better course this year that avoided the main roads. Maybe the weather helped this year, but some of the views and scenery on this course are stunning - from the frost-laden grounds of Loseley House to the scene across Guildford towards London from the top of the Hogs Back to the tree-laden Weald as we descended.

To improve this event, I would like to see chip-timing at the start and finish. To have chip-timing surely increases the costs for competitors, but we don't gain anything from it if it is only set at the finish.

In short: Much improved route
In full: Much safer route than prior years. Well organised and a good challenging route with the climbs in the first half of the race

In full: Nice touch having on-line photos rather than another boring medal. A great shame for us older runners that in the results there is no breakdown of ages (apart from senior/vet) - not much use to know one has been 110th male vet when competing with runners 30 years younger!
