In short: The online photos didn't match up to the event, but not sure it was Swanley Running Clubs fault In full: My sister wanted to do this and wanted me to sign up to keep her company. I obliged and found it didn't really dent the wallet too much. The pictures on the website looked great fun and I was looking forward to this, but when I arrived to just a gazebo and a parked car pumping out Christmas songs, I felt a little bit under-awed.
Chatting to a member of the running club, they informed me the reason for the toned down atmosphere this year was that the local council were charging outragous prices just to close the roads for a few minutes so therefore they decided to hold it in the park.
The race was good and the course was nice although a touch reptitive doing practically the same loop 4-5 times but the friendliness of everyone and the christmas pudding as a finishing prize was a nice touch.
Not one I'd do again but for under £10 it wasn't too bad. Date of review: July 13, 2015
In short: Friendly and fun race in the park In full: Nicely organised small, local race around a scenic park. Good to see so many in festive outfits (smowman should of won and agree not sure who did) but this was all about fun not racing. And the Xmas pud at the end was a nice touch Date of review: December 6, 2012
In short: A great race! In full: A fantastic race with a lovely Xmas pudding for finishers. I was a bit confused about the prize giving though. In the race details it was mentioned that there would be a prize for the best costume. I thought I might be in with a chance but no prize was given (I was the loony running around in the snowman costume!) Next year I don't think I'll bother dressing up :-( Date of review: December 3, 2012
In short: A fun low key friendly race In full: This race is what you want to make it. You will feel part of it if you get with the spirit and run in fancy dress or if you want to race that is fine to. There is still enough people to test yourself. An ideal race to introduce new runners Date of review: December 3, 2012
