In short: Quite hilly, tougher than many expected! In full: Quite a challenging course, and doubt many PB's. Constant incline and decline with no real flat sections to speak of. Well organised and marshalls very encouraging too! Milkshake at end a nice touch. Date of review: March 25, 2013
In short: Interesting and challenging In full: Well organised, marshals did a great job. Loved my mars bar at the end! Nice medal. Scenic. Course well marked out.
In my opinion this course should definitely be classed as hilly. Unfortunately, there aren't any hills close to where I live so as a consequence my time was well off my best. I think it was obvious who the local runners were, ie- the ones who seemed to glid up the hills! Having said that I doubt many PBs were achieved due the nature of the course.
I would consider doing the race again as I did enjoy it overall. Especially the down hills! And, I'd like to thank a man called Dave who was wearing a Sheffield United shirt, because without his encouragement I would have found it difficult to carry on! Date of review: February 25, 2013
In short: Glad I knew it was not `flat` In full: Last minute decision for me to enter this very local 10k held in a park that I run in every week. Lots of smiley helpers and marshalls oversaw a great turnout for a race on an extremely cold day. Calling it `flat` was certainly misleading and the RW rubric did say a t-shirt plus a medal, but you had to pay extra for the former. Expensive but a good cause and the other goodies were of quality and appreciated. Great location and I`m glad the weather was relatively favourable because, if it was wet, there would have been problems. Well done to the organisers. Date of review: February 24, 2013
In short: A nice but rather hilly 10K In full: Difficult to pace as hardly any flat running, not big hills but continuous incline and decline. Well organised and the best recovery drink at the end. Very local for me (was still in bed 40 mins before start) so a bit biased. Date of review: February 24, 2013
In short: Not an easy course but very well organised In full: Not a flat course but the organisation was perfect a credit to AGE UK. Well organised, friendly marshal's,well sign posted, warm up good, excellent finish, medal, water, shake & mars bar. Good value for money. Keep up the good work. Date of review: February 24, 2013
In short: Friendly, well marshalled, mars bar apprecited, but not really very flat! In full: Bloody freezing!
We were at the back, and it was nicely spaced, with plenty of room to be overtaken by the speedy folk. Well signed, plenty of cheery marshalls (thank you!) and km markers all the way round. Finish handled well (by the time we got back, no idea about before that), and mars bar very much appreciated!
Could do with amending description a bit - advertised 9.30 'warm up' didn't start til nearly 9.50, and describing it as 'flat' was rather mean (especially when on the forum you've put 'sheffield-flat, ie pretty hilly)! Date of review: February 24, 2013
In short: Not ideal for beginners but a very enjoyable morning! In full: Too hilly for first timers as it may put them off, but a well run event with everything you need. Date of review: February 24, 2013
In full: Not anybody's fault but I hated it, the cold meant I never got warm enough to hit my stride, in places too many people running on narrow paths and was nearly knocked flying by runners barging through the pack early on. I was starting to think I was a reasonable runner approaching good for age, I felt today like a new runner, Clearly I need to stick to road races. Date of review: February 24, 2013
