In short: This is the third time I have done this race and every year it gets better. The organisation is second to none and the race marshals were fantastic. Plenty of refreshments, great medal and t-shirt at the end (and the xxl t-shirt is xxl ??), Date of review: May 25, 2016
In short: Flat, fast and friendly! In full: Really good communication and organisation both before and during the race. The start is a bit of a walk from parking so leave yourself plenty of time. There are plenty of toilets at HQ, though obviously busy, there are some portaloos by the start line but quite a queue. Very handy woods on the road which a lot of people sneaked off to for a last minute pee!
Lots of marshalls, who were very friendly and encouraging. Loads of water stations, and the jelly baby zone and sponge zone were a brilliant pick me up.
The course is flat and fast as advertised, a slight hill at 2 miles and then a very short little climb just before you get in the stadium at the end but does not affect the ability to get a PB at all. I think the flattest course I have ever run and the views across the fields are just beautiful.
The finish was great, brilliant atmosphere and the free muffin and goody bag were great for the money. Especially the salt and vinegar crisps, much appreciated!
Would most definitely run again, and would recommend for a seasoned runner or a first timer. Date of review: May 15, 2016
In short: Fantastic event, the organisation was superb and the finish at Scunthorpe's football stadium was perfect. In full: Lived up fully to its billing as being fast and friendly. Really top notch organisation for which all involved are to be congratulated. Thoroughly enjoyable despite the very warm day. First time I have run the event but it will now be a fixture in my calendar. Date of review: May 15, 2016
In short: Very well organised (pre and post race both excellent) In full: Really enjoyed the event. Very well organized, with meet and finish at the football stadium which can easily accommodate the 1800 runners and friends. Plenty of loos, somewhere warm to gather before and after the race (very important this year as weather was awful). The course is flat and fast. Thought the weather would scupper a PB but knocked 4 mins off my previous best stadium. Plenty of water stations and great to finish in the Stadium. The stadium is very easy to access via motorway links so no delays arriving or leaving. Would definitely like another go next year. Date of review: May 18, 2015
In short: Everything was excellent about the race In full: Have never entered a race that is as well organised as this. What you didnt know at the start wasn't worth knowing. Frequent emails to inform on all that was going on behind the scenes and important information. Marshals were excellent despite the weather they were very supportive and had smiles on their faces. Great finish as well and being the first local runner to the finish had a great welcome into the stadium. Don't know any way that this can be improved. Keep up the good work!! In short: Except for the long walk to the start an excellent event In full: Except for the long walk to the start and the grass path to get over the road bridge a very good course where PB's should be on the cards. Weather wet and windy on the day but clearly not in the organiser's control. Will certainly do this one again. Date of review: May 9, 2015
In short: Now in its 4th year, this race has kept on improving and I think it is the best half in the UK by far In full: Now in its 4th year this race just keeps on getting better and better, the organisation of the race was very slick and ran like clockwork despite the shocking weather conditions. Runners received regular informative e-mails prior to the race. The Race HQ was also well organised with a number of great bargains to be had. The water stations were well space out and the jelly bean station at the half-way point is always a welcome sight. The introduction of a sponge station this was also excellent (even though the runners has their fair share of water due to the heavy rain. The marshalls on the course were again second to none and all offered support and encouragement to all runners. I have run in a number of half marathons across the country and I have to say that this half marathon has become one of my favourite (if not the favourite) half marathon and will definitely be signing up for the 5th year as soon as entries open again in the new year. The goody bag keeps getting better with another great t-shirt and superb medal, there were also lots of goodies which made the overall package excellent value for money. Well done to all who were involved in organising and running the event. Roll on 2016 Date of review: May 9, 2015
