In short: Well Organised - Great Scenery In full: Wonderful scenery, and nice and hilly! Efficient and mostly friendly marshalling.
Sadly the famous field had not been freshly ploughed and it was mostly dry underfoot, which annoyed us masochists! However there was a nice stiff breeze to run into at the top of the hill which made up for it somewhat!
Loads of facilities at the start line good for runners and spectators - a good variety of food and drinks. Plenty of free parking on site. No goody bag but what does one expect for £8!
Overall a very enjoyable start to my Sunday, hence the 5* rating.
My only grouse is that this year the road was not closed for the first mile, which meant we were having to run on a very narrow footpath, with little opportunity to overtake. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Tough-ish course, well organised, fun race In full: Great event for beginners and experienced runners alike. Really well organised, well marked course with lovely scenery. Great atmosphere at the start/finish. Despite the reviews from previous years I would recommend this race. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Spectacular scenery compensated for the uphill slog! In full: Nice race. Parking close to start and finish, plenty of opportunity for refreshments, no big loo queues and heaps of friendly, encouraging marshalls. I found the hills challenging, as I live in a flat place, but the view from the top was breathtaking. Thanks and well done to the organizers. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Marshals and signs all sorted now. In full: Plenty of signs and marshals this year. No probs finding the way. Great atmosphere to the event. No hills too steep, fine for first timers. Lovely views mid way round. Cheers Alton. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: A pleasant trip round in the Hampshire countryside In full: I was a little bit worried having read previous reviews about runners getting lost, but fortunately had no such problems. There were plenty of marshalls offering smiles, encouragement and pointing us in the right direction. Challenging uphills and rewarding downhills. The start area was great, with rugby and football clubs adding to the atmosphere. Plentiful tea and coffee and there would be enough warm space inside if the weather was bad. In short: Mix up with marshalls again! In full: Did not run this year due to a event clash but heard about the leaders being pointed in the wrong direction. This has happened in the past a few times. Will Alton RC ever learn! They must tighten up their signage and marshals to ensure this does not happen again. It's a nice course and I note the numbers are down. Someone from Alton RC really needs to shake this race up and get it back to the glory it used to have. Date of review: October 9, 2009

In short: Beautiful route, great weather, challenging but not too challenging In full: Fortunately I was slow enough not to be caught up in the great "misdirection" incident so I have only good things to say about this event. A beautiful course and a classic example of a small, friendly and enjoyable off-road 10K. Today was the sort of event that makes running in the English countryside such a pleasure.
