In full: Absolutely loved the Leeds Abbey Dash this year- the best yet! Made my pb and my children made theirs in the Junior Dash! Adore the atmosphere and excitment running through the city centre and thought Age UK did a fab job! My favourite 10k due to the flat surface, quick pace and excellent supporters Date of review: November 25, 2013
In short: Wot , no medals ??? In full: Better organised than last year, the starting place being more user friendly. Unfortunately the 2013 Tomlinson Leeds 10k uses virtually the same route? Come on lets have some imagination as I would say that both events possibly attract a good proportion of the same entrants. Small t-shirts were gone for those of us at the back of the field. On some events ,especially when no entrants are allowed on the day ,the shirt size is marked on the running number. This would appear to resolve the problem. However , despite the gripes , a good event well worth supporting. Date of review: November 18, 2013
In short: Better start then previous years In full: The start of the race is definitely better than previous years, less congested, so less weaving between runners. The pens are not policed, so there are 'slower' coloured bibs in 'faster' pens, but not a problem. Somehow, the start and the finish are not very well marked this year, I was looking for the finish arch, but it was merely 2 flags at the side indicating the finish! It was well organised, a good race, another PB. I wish they bring back the medals. Used to have medals years ago! Perhaps more corporate sponsorship required. Maybe we'll get a goody bag as well next year ;) I live 5 minutes walk away from the start, so I'll be doing it again nevertheless Date of review: November 18, 2013
In short: OK race, no medal, no tee shirt!! In full: Advertised as having a medal for finishers, so disappointed not to get one! And, they'd run out of Small tee shirts so I had to take a Medium that's big enough to get two of me in!! Very disappointing.
The atmosphere at the start and finish is fab but very boring for the bulk of the race. Date of review: November 17, 2013
In short: Friendliness of a small race, organisation of a large race In full: Impressed by how smoothly the event seemed to run. First time I've ran Abbey Dash and was promised a flat fast course and wasn't disappointed. There was an incline just before the abbey and 5k mark but only noticeable as the rest was so flat. Good tshirt. Marshals very supportive and friendly. The bit round 2k mark where you run round a shopping car park was a bit strange. Will be back again. Had more character than similar races such as the Manchester 10k. Date of review: November 17, 2013
In short: Was it more than 10k? In full: Was it just me? The first k marker was beyond my Garmin and many other runners beeped at the same time as mine, my final distance at the finish was 10.13k, oh and the info on this site is incorrect as there was no medal or goody bag just a t shirt. Was a bit wierd this year starting from a different place and the big 'kink' in the course but it was a really good race for first timers and the weather was perfect Date of review: November 17, 2013
