In short: Glorious mud bath! In full: Loved this race, my first proper cross country. Lovely course, demanding hills (and those steps - twice!) Friendly supportive marshals. Nice t-shirt (although I prefer medals...) Would happily do this one again. Date of review: January 13, 2016
In short: Hard tough xc but brilliant will test the fittest runners ,great challenge. In full: Very scenic route ,with the challenge of the cliveden steps recommend . The organization for this event was perfect
In short: Tough XC in beautiful location with super friendly marshalls In full: This is a great way to start the new year. A proper XC 10k with hills, some mud and a great atmosphere. Burnham Joggers do a great job with the event and it's great the National Trust support it. Date of review: January 6, 2015
In short: Tough but friendly run in great surroundings, just one niggle though.. In full: Great way to kick off 2015 with a chilly trot round very picturesque Cliveden. Course was tough, especially the two trips up the flight of 'stairs' but very rewarding run in great surroundings. If only they'd sorted the handing out of the numbers as this took forever and was pretty chaotic. Doing this in the Orangery was a mistake, should have set up tables on the finish to save a lot of bother. Shame really as well organised otherwise, good take-away bag and decent friendly experience. Would do again yes as comparatively low cost. Date of review: January 5, 2015
In short: What a way to start 2015 In full: Challenging but enjoyable. Thanks to all involved especially the marshals on such a cold day. Great goody bag, a technical t shirt and a Mars Bar! Date of review: January 4, 2015
In short: A Great event to start the year with! In full: All due credit to Burnham Joggers for keeping this event going for at least 25 years to my knowledge despite increasingly severe weather conditions in recent years (if it’s not snow, it was nearly rained off this year!)
Against the great historic backdrop of Cliveden House, the event starts and finishes on the gravel drive to the stately house and takes in the beautiful National Trust country estate with a very challenging course, which zigzags up and down on the steep hillside above the River Thames. The endurance highlight must be two climbs of a very long flight of steps cut into the hillside leading from the river up to Cliveden House, which had myself and most runners around me reduced to near walking pace. Cross-country studs are a must for this event!
Superb organisation and friendly support as usual from Burnham Joggers. An event to keenly anticipate every year.
