In short: Well timed fixture, by a great club, over a mildly challenging course
In full: This year's start was a little bit dodgy though. Handing out the 'freebee' after the race at the HQ, 1 mile+ from the finish, also seemed an odd move !

Minor niggles though. Gloucester AC and those who arranged and supported deserve much credit for this and the other road races they organise. Those marshalling on Sunday should be awarded the Robert Falcon Scott survival medal !

In short: Colder but less icy than last year
In full: This was a tougher outing for me this year. My first race since the beginning of November for a variety of reasons and carrying a 14lb handicap as a result. A bitterly cold morning but the car park was much less of an ice rink than last year. Start ws delayed by 30 mins due to accident on M50 allowing runners held up to compete. The event is definetly becoming more popular and a large number, myself included, registered on the day. I think the organisers were a bot caught out by the turn out and had to dash off to retrieve more race numbers before the start.

It took me four miles to shake off the cold from my hands but I still think this race is a great kick start to the New Year's training. Thanks again to the organisers for a great event. The tea and cakes afterwards were greatly apprecated.

In short: Heroic marshals out in the freezing weather
In full: My instructions said somewhere that it was a 10 minute walk back from the finish - they must be race walkers! Not a real problem as long as you were able to trot along as you warm down, but could be a bit of a problem for slower runners or people who had to walk. Delay at the start a bit annoying, but a good low key run to start the year.

In short: Lovely course, undualting is a good description. 30 minute delay was annoying. Otherwise was well organised and good marshalling.

In short: Nice way to keep warm on a chilly day
In full: Of course it was cold, it is winter after all!! Nice undulating course with a few subtle inclines. Can aprreciate why people dislike the walk back but for myself (& I guess a fair few others) it was ideal as a nice warm down. Apart from White van man I - Can't speak for others - found no other drivers annoyed at our presence, after all it was only for the first part of the race where the road was probably cleared of runners within the 1st 10 minutes. Nice to see that the organisers made there way around the HQ to keep people aware of the delay & the reasons behind it. Note to runners - Please turn up early if you are entering on the day. The club site does recommend pre-booking although I do appreciate that due to the time of year this could be one of those races you decide to do on the day. Me being one of them. Many thanks to the marshalls who must have had a chilly day.

In short: Great start for the New Year. Always enjoy this one.
In full: Was it my imagination or is it getting more popular? Either way it deserves to. Mostly directed towards club runners but very friendly all the same. HQ is fine and the walk at the end is a good warm down. Organisation is understated but comprehensive, all done without fuss - even the enforced delay this year. Congratulations and thanks to the marshalls for looking after us. See you next year.

In short: Good race but silly place to start it
In full: I can cope with the walk back from the finish (though can understand if some find that a problem), but surely something better can be found for a start other than 400 people crowding onto a busy road with traffic coming from either side. Why not start at the sports centre and finish earlier on the lane?

In short: Good course - undulating says it all
In full: 2nd time for me on this race and thoroughly enjoyed it again. There is an issue with the location of the start because the road it's on is too busy really or more marshalls (or Police)are needed at the front and back of the start crowd to stop the traffic for a few minutes. Very cold today, similar to last year but that just helped me with my time. Good marshalling on route and a good friendly atmosphere at the race hq.
