In short: Mud, Hills & lots of smiles
In full: A great event and a must do for me each year. This year's race was held on very muddy terrain which definitiely slowed me down but was great fun. The galump down the hill from the windmill, across the field, hay bails was seriously soft. Even in innocuous looking field you would sink into the ground above your ankles. A great event and really fun to run.

The farm tanker water spray was definitely required this year to wash all the mud off before returning to the car.

In short: A great mixed terrain event. Challenging enough to test most levels of runner but not so tough that it destroys you!

In short: Great fun, friendly multiterrain with a ruddy great hill in it.
In full: My first Parbold Hill and I didn't know the course - but what a beauty.

Thanks to Skem and Parbold Harriers for organising such a friendly, fun, challenging race.

The offroad sections were more cross-country than trail as it was so muddy. This race has it all: a brutal climb or several, stiles, cow fields, mud, mud, mud, haybale fence crossings, a stream... And helpful marshalls not afraid to give orders at the more breakneck bits.

Ace! I'll be back.

In short: If you like mud and hills, this is Valhalla!
In full: Challenging multi-terrain (though mostly trails and fields) race with brutal hills, fast descents, technical sections, and lots and lots of mud. Impeccably organised in beautiful scenery, and a total bargain to boot.

In short: Hilly and muddy, but well worth it.
In full: This is a fantastic race. As long as you're prepared for mud and hills (and ice this year), you'll love it. The scenery is fabulous and it's well marshaled.

My only complaint is that the course too often becomes bottle-necked. This happened getting out of the starting field this year, then there are reasonably lengthy queues getting over stiles and some of the track later on is single file only.

But, I forgive all of that because the course and how it makes you feel (at the end!) is superb. Not a fast course, but a very worthwhile one.
