In short: Finest Rural Lancashire, made for speed (and cheese!) In full: First time I've done this and it won't be the last. Almost perfect conditions, virtually still, cold and sunny, just a little bit icy underfoot in places.
Organisation was first class, although parking at Guys can be a problem when busy and of course the start and finish go through the car park which limits numbers a bit.
Once out of the car park (couple of hundred metres or so) this is a really quick course, well signed, watered and extremely well marshalled, with little traffic and almost completely flat with just a couple of small lumps. I'm a relative newbie to racing so slaughtered my pb by over 7 minutes, but it's obviously a fast course for most; whatever your pace and level you'll go well on here (providing it isn't windy).
On a crisp clear day the scenery and views are pretty good too if you have time to enjoy them!
Quick results at the end and a lovely big block of local cheese rounded off a belting morning run. Highly recommended. Date of review: December 3, 2012

In short: Nice event, PB friendly too! In full: A popular, friendly, well marshalled event. Good location with a good course, no hills to speak of, so very PB friendly, even with the 2 "sheep dip" type puddles that needed fording... but that's down to the lovely wet weather of late! Attracts a nice wide range of abilities, from the insane sub 49mins!! to around 2 hours. Open to traffic roads, but very rural and was no problems encountered. No medal (I like medals, haha) but momento of a large block of local cheese, looking forward to eating my way through it. One to put on the planner for next year. Date of review: December 7, 2009

In short: A very good local race In full: A very well organised race, superbly marshalled -thanks to everyone who gave their time. A good flat course, occasionally exposed to the wind. Didn't appreciate the flooded road at 6.5 miles but couldn't be helped really -you just have to get on with it. Great memento - a cheese, ideal for Christmas and it's local too. Great value local run Date of review: December 7, 2009

In short: Cheesy PB'sy In full: Great cheese again, looking forward to it on the Christmas day menu! As said before very slippery in places but still got a PB that made up for last weeks poor show in the Preston 10. Schedule starts for FLM today so hope to be back next year in good shape for another PB. Thanks to all the excellent marshalls, it was cold enough running, wouldn't have wanted to be standing around too long in those conditions. Thanks! Date of review: December 11, 2008

In short: Nice route, well marshaled and sign posted. In full: The start and finish were through the car park. Not an issue on the way out together, but as a back runner I found my self finishing dodging racers leaving in their cars. It really upset me as my distance and time were a real achievement for me, lost in the confusion. Date of review: December 8, 2008

In short: Well organised race - friendly marshalls In full: First time running this race. Was told that it was a PB course and despite the very icy conditions in some places I still managed to knock 27 seconds off my previous PB set at the Preston 10 a few weeks earlier! Well organised by Garstang RC - plenty of cheerful marshalls out on the course who must have been freezing cold! Date of review: December 8, 2008

In short: Good race. Well organised and quick (I secured an unexpected PB!). Excellent block of locally produced cheese makes an intersting change of race momento. In full: Very impressed with the set up for this. Plenty of car parking, registration (I entered onthe day) was very slick, the race started precisely on time and delivered everything promised. Thanks to everybody at Garstang Running Club for their efforts.
The route itself is a scenic loop along quiet lanes through the Lancashire countryside with no hills anywhere. It could be very fast in the right conditions. Today was cold - and icy in places - so it was necessary to be very careful along the way. Even allowing for that, I'm aware that I'm not the only person who PB'd.
Only slight niggle, which frankly the organisers can't do much about, would be that the first water station was on the 'wrong' side of the road - it had sensibly been located just off the road outside a farm. Unfortunately, the realtively frost free bit of road (the least slippy bit) was on the opposite side. The station was less than three miles in so it wasn't really needed - I'd have been inclined to do without. Date of review: December 7, 2008

In short: Well organised and nice race! In full: Just read last years reviews re weather. Very different this year, cold, sunny and icy! A nice combination making the scenery special. Slippery in places though but its your choice to run! Very well marshalled so thanks to those who stood in the cold for sooooo long! Date of review: December 7, 2008

In short: Great race. In full: Perfect weather conditions, torrential rain pre race (my son got soaked on his paper round!) eased to fine drizzle. Couldn't feel my toes after water section at 7 miles. Big thanks to Jennifer & Richard who dragged me to a PB. Lancashire cheese will be on the Christmas menu. Date of review: December 11, 2007
