In short: Best Race There Is
In full: I've run 100s of races of varying distances over the years. This is the one I come back to year after year. The combination of scenery the challenging accents (although I'm prepared for the 3-6 mile hill the one at 18m gets me every time), exciting decents and stunning scenery make this the perfect race (and worth the miles I have to travel to get there). As well as all that it's provides a great pre-London warm up. Not usually one for voicing my opinion on forums but this race is fully justified in the ratings it receives.

In short: Do this race !
In full: Fantastic race, to summarise -

- Climb only starts when you see the 3 mile sign until 6.5 miles then undulating and no other real hill until 18.5 and that is less than 1/4 mile.
- Stupendous scenery which cannot be described unless you run (not drive) the route !
- You 'share' the route with other road users so mind those blind bends but no problems as far as I could see.
- No sports drinks and didn't see mars bars / jelly babies so take your own gels as only water provided.
- Quality T-shirt

In short: Wow- could be your favourite race if you take it steady!
In full: Was really nervous but took my time on the hill and chatted all the way around. Knees took a pounding bu all 20milers are going to do that!
Jelly babies and chopped mars bars-YUM. Have already worn my T-shirt which is a first as most are rubbish but this was great. Fantastic support and marshals are wonderful-thankyou!

In short: Without a doubt as tough as it was last year but this year I got a PB :-))
In full: This is one of my favorite races and this time around although as tough as ever the weather was nothing short of glorious and the pleasure was all mine running through the glorious Elan Valley. I will be back next year and don't ever let anyone scare you off from attempting this run .....what goes up must come down !!!!

In short: Tough, but glorious scenery.
In full: Very smoothly organised. Very friendly atmosphere particulary amongst the runners. Nice support in the town, and dotted around the course, very supportive marshals and water stations. Don't be afraid of the hill, just admire the scenery and you'll be at the top without noticing.

In short: A Special Race
In full: A nicely organised race, through stunningly beautiful scenery - what more could you want? The hilly/undulating nature of the course makes it a real challenge, perfect for getting stamina into the legs ready for a Spring marathon. If you can't enjoy running this event then, frankly, running probably isn't for you! Marshalls & spectators were friendly and encouraging, and the jelly babies & mars bar pieces at the drinks staions were very welcome. My only suggestion for improvement would be an extra drinks stop in the second half of the race - I hadn't taken a drink of my own, and was feeling very dehydrated by the time I reached the last station, which led to me having to stop and drink a few cups. But overall a really great race, and all being well one that will become a regular part of my running year.

In full: Great course, with absolutely fabulous scenery. I vowed this would be my one and only attempt at it, but who knows what next year will bring! A great pre London Marathon run - everyone says if you can do Round the Lakes, London will be fine - I hope they are right!!!! Glorious day - plenty of water stations, just where needed, and those Jelly Babies - fantastic!
