In short: Well organised popular HM In full: Route reasonably flat (this is Cornwall!) with only a couple of minor hills so could be PB potential for some. However this year was cold, wet and windy so just glad to finish in a reasonable time Most of the route is on quite roads but 6 miles or so are on trails; these are hard pack and road shoes are fine. Thanks must go to the brass band playing despite the weather at approx. mile 5/10 which really lifted the spirits. Memento was a good quality tech T. The only gripe I have is that the final few yards pass through a reasonably busy road junction with marshalls struggling at times to control some inconsiderate drivers and thus delaying a few of the runners. Not sure if road closures or moving the finish are an option? Oh and beware of sharks and crocodiles on the trail section!
In short: After all the hot weather a grey, wet morning was welcome. Great organisation, and a good atmosphere. I will definitely do his one again if I am in Cornwall again when it is on., Date of review: August 6, 2013
In short: First time here for me. Friendly, well organised and an enjoyable run. In full: The wet weather wasn't ideal, but the off-road parts of the course held up pretty well - just some puddles really. The brass band on the course was a nice touch and the organisation and marshalling was excellent.
I'm not sure if its a fast course or not. I was 4 mins outside PB but am not currently at my fittest! There are a couple of 'lumps', but I suspect that in good conditions (dry, not windy, not too hot) PB's are definitely possible. Was a pleasant experience. Recommended. Date of review: August 5, 2013
In short: Supportive, friendly and good flat race with a few rolling hills In full: Excellent race, well supported, well organised. I did it as part of my marathon training on a surfing weekend away in Newquay! Loved the support, changing terrains Date of review: August 8, 2012
In short: Lovely friendly race In full: On any other day, this course has got PB potential. Pretty much flat with a couple of not too testing hills. But it was, as usual when I race, extremely warm and humid. Putting the weather aside though, this race is a little gem. The organisation was spot on, with lots of marshals around the course. Water stations were plentiful, which were much needed on a very hot day and the medal at the end paid homage to the Olympics, which was a nice touch. Date of review: August 6, 2012
In short: superb value half in cornwall and best medal outside the olympic village! In full: very enjoyable half marathon that was well worth the trip to cornwall.very warm humid day but plenty of water stattions and scenery.mostly on trails with inclines on the road parts.pb potential could be on the cards also.great to see people cheering us on and the sight of the animals along the way and hearing the brass band playing was great to break up the run in my mind.would definately do it again and as most years received an awesome medal on a par with the olympic gold medals in size and quality.great way to celebrate the olympic year was doing the 30th year of the indian queens.highly recommended. In short: Well organised & great value. In full: This was a great race; excellent value and very well organised. There were cheers of encouragement at regular intervals and plenty of water stations. The run was a mix of road and bridleway, the brass band and stuffed animals along the way were a welcome diversion for a first-timer. I couldn't have chosen a better half-marathon to start with. If I am in Cornwall again at the correct time I would definitely do it again. Date of review: September 23, 2011
