In short: The MC was good In full: Not a bad race. A few tough hilly parts but other than that mainly flat. No medal but the money was for charity so that was ok. Would be nice to see more of the village. Mens toilets were different but convenient. I will be doing this race next year. Date of review: July 21, 2009
In short: A very scenic & undulating trail race In full: A very scenic & undulating trail race which is virtually all ‘off road’, the course seemed hillier than I remembered from when I ran it last year (poor old boy!) but I really enjoyed the whole experience. The course was well marshaled along with a couple of water stations (bowls for the 4 legged runners) and lots of signage where needed ……. Some quirky bits (the trench in the corner of the field for the men’s convenience being the most obvious) and some nice prices for the winners, as well as the youngest competitor and farthest traveled (New Zealand)
The MC on the microphone did an excellent job, he was both informative and witty and the pub served an excellent lunch!
A great day out …………… and I was a winner (a raffle prize)
In short: Friendly village race, mostly off road and for a good cause. In full: About 200 runners for the 10k and a fun run for children of 1 mile. Lovely countryside course, about 1 mile on tarmac, hardly any traffic and then the rest through woods and on downland. Sharpish climb out of the valley and then a long drag at 4 miles, before coming down off the top. All very friendly. Liked the trench pissoir for the blokes behind the tarpaulin, but would recommend a portaloo or two for those whose pre-race nerves cover the whole gamut, as the pub's facilities soon became over-loaded. A pleasant Sunday run. Many thanks. Date of review: July 19, 2009
In short: Very enjoyable race! In full: The weather was splendid a little hot at times but nobody can control that. Great variety of hills, tracks and shady wooded areas to run in. Managed a 10k pb!! Date of review: July 21, 2008
In short: Superb event and really enjoyale run. In full: Really enjoyed this race. Based in a beautiful village where the people were really friendly. A nice gathering area alongside the start/finnish where the family enjoyed home made cakes & drinks (nice pub also). The run itself was challenging without being too much and we enjoyed some great varied scenery. Well done to all involved. Date of review: July 21, 2008
In short: Well done In full: I was aware (as many others also should have been) that there may quite a few runners this year as I had noted in a few previous races that this was part of the dorset series. First timer at this event. Not as hilly (or muddy )as the moonraker.. not as narrow as the maiden loop in places. Not really bothered about another medal so all in all a really nice day out for me friends and family. I for one say well done to all concerned Date of review: July 20, 2008
