In short: A well organised, possibly PB race In full: This is a very popular multi terrain race, which attracts runners of all abilities. Organisation, as always, was first class, with ample parking, friendly enthusiastic Marshalls, well stocked drinks stations, and of course lovely forest scenery. This was my 23rd time at the race, and only the second that had rain. It was much cooler this year, which probably accounted for me running the fastest time for this race since 2000. I will be back next year, all being well, as a 70 year old, so I hope the Organisers will include a 70 age category, which is sadly lacking. Date of review: July 16, 2015
In short: A lovely race whilst getting to see the New Forest In full: Challenging on the gravel tracks but worth it. Everybody friendly and excellent organisation. Glad we had a little rain this year as no shade when it's hot! Date of review: July 13, 2015
In short: As always - lovely race In full: Second time running this race - first time it was 32 degrees and sweltering. This time it was windy and rainy but both times I have massively enjoyed the race. Ten miles of beautiful New Forest countryside - mainly good paths. No need for trail shoes and relatively flat. Nice mix of club runners and non-club runners meaning it's beginner friendly as well as club-friendly.
Varied course with some open fields and views of the famous ponies, and some through more woody areas. Always good support throughout the course and in the start/finish field. Year-specific horse brass at the finish line, oodles of parking and plenty of portaloos - what more could you ask for?! Date of review: July 13, 2015
In short: Loved it! Where do I sign up for next year? In full: This is a great course. I'm a first timer so missed the heat and sun of previous years, the weather was just about perfect today, light rain and a bit of a breeze. The marshals were first class, all very cheery and encouraging despite standing in the rain, and the organisation was fine too. Dithered between road and trail shoes - I don't think it really mattered but went for trail and didn't find there was so much tarmac to make me regret it. The trails don't need specific shoes but I appreciated the extra grip. Definitely in the calendar for next year. The horse brass medal is lovely but a bit of ribbon to hang it on wouldn't go amiss. In short: Good organisation, ideal venue with loads of parking and good value In full: Very nice race, lovely route through the New Forest and a nice mix of road and mostly forest trials. Relatively flat route with a couple of inclines and declines thrown in. The weather was quite rainy but not cold so actually ideal this year. And a good venue with plenty of space and parking, easy to access. Date of review: July 12, 2015
