In short: Lovely yet challenging race! In full: Knole Park is so lovely, no need to worry about traffic, even the deer were unphased! This was my first venture into this race, and the first proper 7-miler too, so got an inaugural PB of 1:19 approx, just over 11 min miling, not bad in view of my 'below-par' level of fitness!
Definitely not for those who want a flat stroll in the park, and you had to be careful on the descent when doing the loop twice, very steep. Wonderful race though, lovely paperweight memento too. I was able to get a shower at the leisure centre afterwards and then lunch in the ever so pretty village of Eynsford. Made it all worthwhile really, very nice! Date of review: October 6, 2013
In short: Good challenging race! In full: It was the first time that I had run this race. It was well organised with supportive marshalls. Also got a lovely momento. Good hill practice but also some downhills to pick up speed! Date of review: September 22, 2013
In short: Good. Very Good. In full: done this one for many years now and just getting to grips with the blinking hills! Lovely course that is best described as challenging! only niggle is that the sports centre (race HQ)were charging £2.60 to use the showers - so I went home sweaty! - back to the rugby club next year please! In full: I think that the two steep descents and opposite ascents spoil what would otherwise be a good, challenging but charming park run. The first corner and first hill was also quite a bottlenack. I concede that I don't know the park but I do wonder if it is possible to have a longer course (or shorter for some) without the 'steeps'. Date of review: September 2, 2013
In full: run this race before, hilly but not extreme. enjoyed the run, half a mile from home took wrong route with a number of others,no sign no marshal. we reached finish coming from oppsite direction to other finishers. as the bulk of runners had finished organisers diddnt seem bothered..
In short: A great race In full: This is a great race in a lovely park. The organisers work very hard to make it a very efficient event from start to finish. It deserves far more entrants. It must be one of the few races where horse riders cross the course and there's a sign saying "Beware of Golf Balls". Well done to Sevenoaks AC for another great day. See you next year. In short: Tough but great race In full: Fantastic scenery. Great marshalling. First time with timing chips this year but no problems. Lots of tough ups & downs though all pretty short. Great race & thank goodness wasn't last weekend! Date of review: May 13, 2012
In short: A lonely race at the back............. but at least good support In full: I knew that it would be a lonely race at the back when I was left behind before we'd even reached the first corner and soon the runners in front were long out of sight. This was my first event back having been out with injury for nearly 8 weeks so I just told myself treat it as a training run - and the scenery was gorgeous. People passing by were all very encouraging and cheerful which I appreciated, as were some of the runners who lapped me - especially the first lady (I hope she won - I've not dared look at the results yet to see how far behind I was)who took the time to shout encouragement as she went past. Another big thanks to the marshals for waiting for me, especially to Richard who ran the last mile with me, whilst carrying signs - and the people who waited at the finish line and cheered me to the end.
Numbers seemed down on last year, which is a shame, as it is a great event in a beautiful park. (And maybe I wouldn't have been on my own at the back -well I can dream anyway). One suggestion for the future is better signage from the leisure centre to the race HQ as there were a few people looking lost.... Date of review: May 13, 2012
