In short: Lack of atmosphere, very woodstock club runner orientated In full: Having done the Blenheim Palace Heart Foundation half marathon I thought this would be very similar. I seemed more or less solely aimed at the Woodstock club runners and I run in over 35 races in the last year and the atmosphere was certainly lacking. The medal was poor, my partner (spectator) while I was in the race witnessed a horror story about one of the runners collapsing 3 times and the ambulance team doing nothing about it. Scenery was nice but overall a very disappointing race. Date of review: October 1, 2013
In short: Testing but enjoyable course, very well organised. In full: I have done a race at Blenhaim before and knew about the hills, but they killed me at this race, but it was still enjoyable. I entered on the day and the marshalls and organisers were very helpful and welcoming. It was quite a club orientated turn out but non club members I spoke to enjoyed the whole day. At £10 its a bargain, as it also gets you entry to the Blenheim grounds, which are stunning. Decent goody bag as well. Cheers Woodstock Harriers! Date of review: September 22, 2013
In short: One of my favourite races In full: Friendly, encouraging marshals and slick organisation in beautiful grounds - all for £10 (and that was entry on the day!). Very cheap for this distance. And there was a bit of a goody bag with water, kitkat, medal, banana and little samples! Yes, it's hilly, but there are plenty of downs as well as ups. Date of review: September 21, 2013
In short: Toughest course I've been on date but managed to get to the finish dispite those hills! In full: Great scenery, lots of great support from the marshals and loads of hills! I survived so look forward to next year. Date of review: September 21, 2013
In short: bargain In full: really enjoyed this race very friendly atmosphere was expecting a harder course but it was testing i would really recommend this race to anyone it has that family atmosphere and who waits for you at the finish has a chance to enjoy the grounds as well Date of review: September 28, 2012
In full: Picturesque, difficult (if you jog/ run consistently) Have juice instead of food before doing this race! I aim to do this every year. Some people don't do all three laps, but it's a great feeling to do so. Goodybag was banana, lipbalm, water, medal, chocolate (not dairyfree) Date of review: September 23, 2012
In short: Loved it! Great course and organisation, beautiful scenery, challenging but satisfying! In full: Thanks Woodstock Harriers for a marvellous race, loads of smiley enthusiastic marshals (loved the celebrity masks on the last lap), plentiful water stations, nice medal and goody bag. The course has a few long hills, but the flowing, gradual downhills made up for the testing uphills. The 3-lap course suited me well, and I really liked knowing exactly where water would be on subsequent laps. Was great to be able to bring spectators into the park free. And I got a 12 mile 198 yard PB - will have to try and beat it at next year's race... Date of review: September 22, 2012
In short: Not for the feint-hearted! In full: Superb setting in grounds of Blenheim Palace. Metalled paths. Excellent organisation. Trouble is, 2 medium-sized hills and one big long one - and that's in one lap! If you had a Half with six medium hills and three big ones, you'd call it seriously hard. Glad I did it [I think!] but doubt if I'll be back. Pity they couldn't somehow find an extra mile as 12.1 isn't likely to attract an awful lot of runners. Date of review: September 21, 2011
In short: Lovely scenery with some challenging hills In full: Things don't get much better than a race which allows you to storm past Steve Naylor three times (well admittedly he was a marshall).
First time I have done a multi lap race but thoroughly enjoyed it, which was a bonus as I didn't think I would. Mile 3,7, and 11 through the woods at the back of Blenheim Palace were a fantastic array of early autumnal colours and a great reward for the hill that had just been tackled.
As a non-club runner I didn't feel out of place.
Excellent value race, great support from the marshalls and a nice small field meant it never got too crowded. Date of review: September 21, 2011
