In short: Good Midweek 5k
In full: Always enjoy this race even with the twists and turns, dodgy marshalls and expensive price.

This year we had the rain which made all the turns that little bit more awkward.

It gets a little bit better organised every year - we even had ribbons for the medals this time!

In short: Very well organised race
In full: Again a good race, well organised. Quick 3 lap circuit, has cobbles and sharp turns in places but that makes it fun. Did my PB here even thought the rain showed up on lap 2.

In short: Enjoyable Thursday Afternoon Jaunt
In full: The course is nice and takes you round the Cathedral and some nice bits of Winchester. It isn’t a fast course though too many twists and turns and you need to be careful you don’t run in to bollards or any of the other hazards! But this race is good fun and good value. I will be going it again.

In short: Enjoyable and Somehow Fast Thursday Jaunt
In full: I always enjoy this race immproving my PB each year, despite acourse that on the face of it isn't a fat course, too many twists and turns on ancient flag stones and cobbles this year in the wet. The usual gripes remain the marshalling isn't great but this year took another step forward, now all that is needed is a bit more chat from the marshalls around the cathederal to warn backmarkers/pedestrians that others are coming through and a better momento (or none at all). This is still a very special race and one I always enjoy.

In short: A magnificant setting for a race, historic Winchester, got a PB....
In full: .... but it was my first 5k ! Well organised on the evening although some pre-entrants had not received their numbers. Advice to newcomers in fact all runners, run one circuit beforehand to warm up and especially to note the locations of bollards, tight corners, pavements, different surfaces etc.
Anyone know where the results have been posted ?

In short: A quick half hour suitable for any level
In full: This was my 1st 5k and knowing Winchester well I got to see some things I never had before. A good mix of club and general runners and the atmosphere was good despite the downpour.

I recommend this to a beginner as it is flat and quite nice as you run through the cathedral grounds.

The start could have been a bit better organized but on a street that was still open to traffic was understandable

In short: Long may this race live - it exposes the centre of historic Winchester to half an hour of frantic action!
In full: Look out for the flying butresses and bollards on the frequent tight bends. If you get a pb here, you could do even better at Portsmouth in a couple of weeks.

In short: Slight lack of safety especially in the rain, could be better value too
In full: first time i've done this race and i'm relatively new to the 5k distance. Generally well organised, but marshalls could have been better, especially due to the pouring rain during lap 3 and some very slippery pavements combined with tight corners. Could have been a wee bit cheaper too considering the lack of marshalls etc!

However, lovely scenery and a good route, pretty good for a PB, heard lots of people saying they'd got them.

In short: Good race, shame about the non-vocal marshals
In full: This is a great race, well organised and good for a PB. Some tight corners and narrow spaces between bollards around the cathedral which were marked and marshalled but the marshals didn't give a word of warning over 3 laps! However, the marshals on the road at the last section of the lap were excellent.
