In short: Good fast flat course, very popular and always competitive!
In full: This was my second time doing the race and enjoyed it just as much as the first. I was disappointed to discover during the race that the route had been changed quite drastically. I understand that there was nothing they could have done about it but would have appreciated an e-mail beforehand or even an announcement at the beginning of the race. Normally this is a very fast, flat out and back course and provides a great opportunity for a PB. The locals in Helensburgh were out supporting in good voice again and definitely spurred me on.

In short: Cracking venue
In full: Another warm evening this year and the out and back route is very pleasant. A great finish line at the Hermitage Academy.

In short: Well organised, well supported, flat course and food at the end.
In full: First time I've done Helensburgh and really enjoyed it. The start is a short distance from the school where the race is based and the first km or so is quite twisty and narrow in places until you get onto the wider streets. From there until almost 6K it is virtually straight before turning back into town, retracing some of the outward route back to 9K, going through the start line and finishing back at the school. There were plenty of marshalls out and a good number of spectators. The pleasant weather topped things off nicely.

In short: Great again this year!
In full: Second year of doing these races and although I didn't run very well, it really was a great evening. Car park filled quickly, which meant we used the overspill but just used the jog to the start as our warm up. Well organised and well marshalled (so encouraging and friendly- it is appreciated. The MC reading out the names of the finishers and playing "motivational" tunes was a really nice touch, and the home baking and cans of juice in the hall afterwards was a lovely touch. Nice technical t shirt and a goody bag this year were most welcome (and the unusual medal!). I am not a fast runner and although there were a lot of club runners, it is not intimidating for beginners due to the organisation and friendliness of all involved. Well done, I will be back next year.

In short: Great Venue
In full: Superb flat course with 1 or maybe 2 small inclines, but built for speed. Great conditions last night, pleasant sunny evening.

Time clock at the end was some 25 seconds or so SLOW. I didn't actually notice until I had finished as I had been looking at my own stop-watch, so no harm done.

However anyone looking for / done a PB would have been disappointed if they had went by the Clock time at the finish line.

On all a great venue and race.

NB. I was greatly impressed by the new Hermitage Academy School Building.

In short: Decent enough run
In full: Bit of a hiccup before the start. After waiting in the queue for ages to enter the carpark, I was told to go back out and drive down to another area to park. After finally getting parked, I used the longish distance as a warm up! Other than that, the race was fine, a couple of wee hills near the start but otherwise fairly flat. Good spread at the end, and good encourangement from the spectators.

In short: Good atmosphere, good organisation, how about more on the front?
In full: Like many, I enjoy this series and it's good value (specially with the Ronhill t-shirt for series entrants this year!) Is there nay reason why the race can't be run mostly along the front instead of just a wee bit and the rest in non-descript leafy avenues? A bit dull, scenery-wise. Come on, West Dumbart Council!
